In the story of Cinderella it only took a wave of her magic wand for the Fairy Godmother to turn a Pumpkin into a beautiful carriage, a few mice into strong clydesdales, and one obscure maiden into the best, most lovely version of herself. Designer and owner Penny has been waving her own magic wand, transforming rediscovered gems here at Forgotten Treasures in Merrillville for almost five years. W

ith her eclectic style, experience, and vision, she continues to take quality vintage furniture pieces and transform them into modern, on-trend collector’s items. Following a twenty seven year career in Floral Design, Penny takes her gentle touch and, working with all types of discovered furniture, develops the natural character of each piece. The home goods are not simply recycled, but innovatively upvalued and given a second chance to live on as exclusive pieces. Involved and active in the Merrillville community, it’s Penny’s penchant that everyone who enters her store gets greeted warmly, as customers are the backbone of this small town shop. Here at Forgotten Treasures there are no strangers, only friends who have not yet met.
