When Pokémon cards first hit store shelves in the late ’90s, few could have imagined that those same cards might one day help fund their retirement.

Since 2004, the S&P 500 has climbed an impressive 483%. But Pokémon cards? They’ve soared over 3,800% in cumulative returns. That means if you had invested $100 in the S&P 500 in 2004, you’d have about $580 today - while $100 invested in Pokémon cards could be worth over $3,900.

For collectors, Pokémon cards aren’t just nostalgic - they’re investments that have outperformed some of the most powerful companies on Wall Street.

Over $416 MILLION worth of trading cards 🤯

August was the hottest month in trading card history. Collectors spent over $416 million online, smashing the previous record by more than $108 million and logging nearly 5.87 million transactions.

The crown jewel? The Michael Jordan & Kobe Bryant Dual Logoman, which sold for $12.93 million, setting the record as the most expensive sports card ever and catching the eye of Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary, part of the investment group that purchased it.

Other marquee sales included a $4.25 million LeBron rookie patch autograph, two Kobe Logomans for $2.3 million and $1.7 million, and the 1/1 National Treasures Caitlin Clark Logowoman, which sold for $504,000.

August proved there’s never been a hotter moment for trading cards.

So excited to watch these two tonight as the Fighting Irish head into Miami! I want to wish Jeremiyah Love & Drayk Bowen a healthy and wonderful season ahead! Both of these star players were part of Coach Freeman 1st recruiting class. Now 3 years later they are both Pre Season All-Americans and the stars of the Team! So blessed to have the opportunities I have in life!
