Okay, we’re going to turn a negative into a positive.
We received a email today that was meant to be hurtful. I’m not going to give the person who sent it the attention they were looking for, but I do want to use it as an opportunity to say something important.
Anyone who has spent time at Gaming Paradise knows we have “employees” with disabilities. Two individuals with disabilities are also members of the owners family, and they come hang out with us at the store from time to time and we wouldn’t change a single thing about that.
Gaming Paradise is supposed to be a place where EVERYONE gets to be themselves. Whether you work here, shop here, hang out here, or just stop in to talk about your hobbies for an hour, you deserve to be treated with respect.
Having a disability doesn’t make someone less deserving of a job, friendship, independence, kindness, opportunity, or simply a place where they feel like they belong.
So instead of responding to hate with more hate, we’re going to turn this into something good.
The integrity of our business will never be measured by how much money we make or how many people walk through our doors. It’s measured by how we treat the people who do.
Gaming Paradise will always choose compassion, inclusion, and doing what’s right over impressing someone who thinks differently.
If that means we lose a customer here or there, that’s perfectly okay with us. Some things are worth a whole lot more than a sale.
And to the person who sent the message:
Thank you for giving us an opportunity to remind everyone what we stand for. Next time you want attention, just ask. We’ve got a $5 room full of stuff that’s more valuable than your opinion.
