So this is a post to update those on Lauren. After her fall on Friday, I messaged her neurologist at the Mayo Clinic. I got a message yesterday with an appointment for this morning via Zoom. We have been aware that her meds haven't been working as they should for a while now, just wasn't prepared for her recommendation this time. Many kiddos with Lennox-Gaustaut have good luck maintaining on meds when the right dose has been found. Lauren is maxed out on a lot of her meds so increasing isn't really working anymore. So, with the doctor recommendation and a lot of discussion, Lauren will be undergoing a Brain Surgery called Corpus Callosotomy. We will have a few trips to Minnesota for tests and meeting with Neurosurgeon to finalize things and go over all the risk factors, etc. This isn't an easy decision and it is SCARY AS HELL to trust someone with our child's brain, that is defective anyway. No right way to prepare for this, except a lot of tears for the unknown and being scared to death, but tears as well for hope for less seizures and a better quality of life for her! Until we know when, we just ask for prayers. Thanks-Rusty, Makaela, Raegan, Lauren and Myself
