🍂 Fall 2026 could bring some big weather swings.

The Farmers’ Almanac is calling for a warm start to fall, followed by a noticeable turn toward colder, wetter weather as the season goes on — and some parts of the country could even get an early taste of winter by mid-October.

Louisiana DRY Returning

Louisiana has benefitted from a welcomed break from the 2026 drought over the past couple of months, with U.S. Drought Monitor 'drought' coverage dropping from nearly 80% of the state in May down to almost none of Louisiana a week ago.

Unfortunately, a 'hot, humid, but mainly-dry' weather pattern has returned ... and it looks like it will be with us into the end of August, at least. Pockets of 'drought' are beginning to re-develop within the state and the NWS Climate Prediction Center's (CPC) suggests a decent chance that the hot-&-dry pattern will continue into the Fall.

Note how northern parishes are bringing back their Burn Bans ... and LSU Parish Agents in the field are highlighting the recent dry-out being augmented by 100° heat.
