Folks want to know: what does our sales guru and all-around shredder get into when the snow melts...? Turns out, he doesn’t really have an off switch!

“People always ask me what I do when the snow melts. Honestly, I don’t really have an off-season—I just swap the board for a bike. Mountain biking has become my biggest obsession in the summer. It’s the closest feeling I’ve found to snowboarding. You’re reading terrain, linking turns, looking for little side hits, and flowing through the trail the same way you would down a powder run. It’s less about racing and more about creativity and finding your own style. That crossover is huge. Riding bikes keeps my legs strong, keeps my reactions sharp, and honestly keeps that stoke alive until the first storm rolls in. Every summer ride is just another excuse to be outside, explore new places, and hang with good people. That’s what snowboarding has always been about for me too. What’s unique about my role is I get to live both sides of Cardiff. I’m an athlete chasing turns and making content, but I’m also the Sales and Community Manager. I’m the guy answering shop questions, setting up demos, planning events, and talking with riders every single day. I don’t see those as separate jobs—they’re the same thing. My goal is to connect people with experiences that get them as fired up about snowboarding as I am. I moved west because I was chasing this lifestyle, and somewhere along the way I realized I had found exactly what I was looking for.

Now I get to help other people find that same feeling—whether it’s someone buying their first Cardiff, showing up to a demo day, or joining us on a trip to Chile. That’s what keeps me motivated.

At the end of the day, it’s never just about selling a snowboard. It’s about building a community around getting outside, pushing yourself, and sharing those days with good people.” - Justin Morgan

2018 marked a major milestone for Cardiff.

The original POWGODA arrived at the legendary in Jackson Hole and wasted no time making an impression. In its debut season, it earned the coveted “Rated Radical” award, proving that Cardiff’s pursuit of building better boards was resonating far beyond the Wasatch.

More than an award, it was a turning point. The POWGODA’s recognition became one of the many sparks that fueled Cardiff’s evolution into a full lineup of snowboards—each one built with the same mountain-first philosophy, thoughtful design, and relentless pursuit of a better ride.

After the GOAT proved itself in big, technical terrain, Sam Bawden’s mind immediately went to the next question:
What would the ultimate powder splitboard feel like?
The GOAT was built to charge steep lines with confidence, but deep storm days called for something different—more float, a surfier feel, and effortless maneuverability in the deepest snow.

That pursuit led to the very first POWGODA splitboard, initially named the SKIFF. Countless powder days in the Wasatch became the testing ground, where subtle refinements in shape, rocker profile, taper, and flex gradually transformed an idea into one of Cardiff’s most classic designs.

Every board has been born from time in the mountains. The POWGODA was no exception.

What keeps inspired when the snow melts? From backpacking with his family to editing films that keep the stoke alive, Jason shares how summer shapes the way he approaches every winter.

“I love to stretch out the snowboard adventures as far into spring as possible-when I’m feeling motivated. haha.

When summertime comes into full swing, I do enjoy a few wild trips with the guys, but I put a major focus on getting my family out on these little adventures. Whether day trips or backpacking, it’s super fun for me to share with them these special places I’ve visited in the winter months or explore new places together. But in a way that is much more approachable and enjoyable for them. It challenges them and helps make them more confident in the mountains. It also gives them a glimpse into how I approach the backcountry, ideally putting them more at ease when I’m out there solo come winter.

The summer flow these last couple years now has involved lots of editing time and all the post-production work that goes into diy filmmaking. It’s a really rewarding way to build community and keep snowboarding fresh on the brain during the off-season. The process has a way of sparking so many more exciting ideas for the winter to come and just perpetually feeds the flame.” -Jason Robinson
