Is Sanity back? Not in the foreseeable future.

Sanity started as a curious hobby back in 2016 and operated a factory/storefront from 2017-2022 until a work opportunity required a move.

For now, it’s once again a curious hobby, feel free to follow along.

First, a big congratulations to our chocolate maker on being named Chief of Eugene Springfield Fire! 🎉🎉🎉

Alas, because this position comes with a permanent schedule change, Sanity has to take an extended hiatus.

We have absolutely enjoyed our time with you, and will miss sharing bean to bar craft chocolate with our community.

We had a blast judging at Food for Lane County’s Chef’s Night Out last night! Have you gone? If not, make sure you don’t miss it next year!

Shoutout to all the vendors, volunteers and event staff that made it possible, and to Chris and Kathy Calise of Eugene Foodies for wrangling the judges so well.

And now, back to the chocolate! As in previous years, we will be taking the summer to restock bars, sticks and drops for the upcoming holiday season. In between batches, we’ll be cramming in all the summer fun we can as a family.

On that note, regular storefront hours are suspended until October. We will be doing periodic, last minute open hours - posted here on Facebook when they happen.

Ever wonder which US state is Chocolate Maker Central?

hint: it’s not California.

Lil’ Oregon’s craft chocolate specs are something to behold:

We are home to the OG of craft chocolate, (they started in CA, sold, then re-sold and moved to OR).

We’re home to one of craft’s longtime bros Woodblock Chocolate] and one of craft’s top award-winning makers as well as arguably one of craft’s esthetic powerhouses cloudforest]

Portland isn’t just home to Cloudforest and Woodblock but

Over in Bend there’s .chocolate and

Mid-state we have and down south there’s (and at one time, )

For cacao buying we’re home to and for equipment

And of course, was founded here.

Oregon is also home base for the Next Batch School, which just wrapped up the most amazing 5 weeks of the Bean to Bar Craft Course yet. Questions, livestreams that went way over time 😆 makers from around the world.

There are amazing creative beautiful and much needed (long overdue!) things happening in craft chocolate, and I’m here to tell you, it doesn’t matter where you live, or how small your start, or how big your goals + dreams.

Eugene, Oregon where I’m typing this is also home to the best phrase ever for starting a chocolate journey:
