Available tomorrow and Sunday at the farm stand, 9 am - 7 pm! Follow the signs and park anywhere in the half circle driveway!

These bouquets are large and in charge! Because of purchasing peonies from a farm in McFarland this year (ours are only in year two of growth and not ready for use yet), the price of the bouquet this week is $35 instead of our usual $25.

(peonies = well worth it - amiright?!) 🌸

I remember reading a book in second grade called Miss Rumphius - The Lupine Lady. It's about a lady who spreads lupine seeds everywhere in hopes of making the world a better place. I loved it then and still remember it!

Now there are lupine growing in the perimeter of the field. They can spread and become invasive, yes we are aware. And, they are gorgeous!

The farmstand will be open this weekend with bouquets of peonies and lupine! 🩷💜

The season is shifting, can you feel it?

Early spring is over and the late spring is here, quickly forging ahead into the heat of summer. The anemone and ranunculus are shutting done for the year with the rising temps, and incoming are the lupine, peonies, and sweet peas.

It's the death of one, the birth of another. April into May, May into June. Slowly changing, telling us the time of year by what's in bloom.

We hope to open up the farm stand this weekend pending the peonies being ready. Bouquets of lupine, peonies, and sweet lemon balm - I can think of nothing better for the eyes, nose, or heart! Hold tight friends, we'll keep you updated about the farm stand when we know. Until then, feast your eyes on these two gorgeous ladies and picture them together in a bouquet!

Most people never see the system behind the flowers they buy.

The majority of cut flowers sold in the United States are imported, traveling thousands of miles before they ever reach a vase. Many move through a complex cold chain of refrigerated trucks, cargo planes, warehouses, and wholesalers before arriving in grocery stores and design studios across the country.

Because flowers must survive that journey, many varieties are bred and grown for durability and consistency. The ability to withstand shipping often becomes the priority.

Local flower farms operate on a very different timeline. Flowers are harvested much closer to the moment they will be used, which allows growers to focus on qualities that long supply chains cannot preserve.

Fragrance. Movement. Unusual varieties. True seasonality.

For people who care about the environment, about where things come from, and about the experience of flowers themselves, that difference matters.

Once you understand how the system works, it changes how you see flowers entirely.

Meet Flora and Fawn-a, born in the flower field early this morning. 🤎

Their smart mama jumped the fence pregnant two babies inside (oof!) knowing they'll need protection initially while they learn how to walk. And what better protection than a big fenced in playpen?! She left them early this morning (deer mamas do that) and she'll be back later this evening.

Now we just need to figure out how to herd these babies through the gate this evening to get them out safely and hope they don't eat too many flowers while they're in there...
