I love looking out at flowers in the summer while I’m sewing or downstairs quilting. Last year I had to put a pot with flowers in it rather than look down the street. This year I can barely see between the hydrangeas. Realized I might have to cut some flowers off when I was loading a quilt on Tuesday.

Boy it’s been some time since I posted anything, sorry about that. I am finally getting to some of my quilts, and excited about it. Come fall everyone starts bringing in there quilts for Christmas. My mom is in love with the quilt I gave her for Mother’s Day. It was a wonky log design we did as a guild project. It’s really fun to see how each person does there’s. I even got to quilt some.

I’m still machine quilting. From Oct to Dec I was busy with customer quilts. Held up due to a broken foot. Things are a bit slower and I’m getting my stuff done, trying new designs and updating things. Im even trying clear thread which is great for panel quilts. As I was looking for photos realized I have been bad at not taking photos. But here are a few. If you need something quilted let me know. My schedule is pretty open.

I have been busy however I have not been posting. I just finished a patriotic quilt for a customer. I used Star spangled banner and loved it. Customer lived how it looked. I even called her when I was on the last row so she could see it being quilted. She was like a kid on Christmas morning.

What do you do at 2 am when you cannot sleep. Well you throw some fabric on your longarm and try a new design you’ve been dying to try. I’m going to make a wall hanging and use this for it. Stay tuned.

By Land or Sea

Flowing Landscape is one of those patterns that works well if you want the look of water or just have movement. This has become one of my most asked for designs.

1st Client: It started with one client who made 3 lap quilts for her family. They were all ocean theme fabrics. She wanted something that looked like water. We found this design and I was surprised with the name. When I think of landscape I see rolling hills or mountains. The name was deceiving, this pattern gives the appearance of waves giving the quilt movement. This pattern gave the client the theme she had imagined. She is currently working on another quilt, she loved the designed so much she requested it again.

2nd Client: This client was doing a quilt for her grandson who just got his first sailboat. He grew up sailing on his dad's boat. Now he has a small 2 seater. She made him a scrappy quilt using up some of her blue scrape fabric's. She then appliqué's a sailboat on the quilt.

3rd Client:Another client was making a quilt for a wedding gift. The couple were getting married on a beach. Their wedding colors were coral and teal. The client wanted the quilt to mimic the ocean waves. Even with the more geometric front the motion really worked with the quilt. We went with a gray thread for the front and back. I am finding I use gray quit a bit when wanting the design to show more effectively. It lets the design show without taking away from the quilt design.

So as you can see this is a very fun versatile design for quilts. Whether it be land or sea.
