🎉 Happy Birthday, Hajra! 🐝💛

Today we’re celebrating Hajra, who has been part of our Honey & Hive Boards family for more than a year now.

Her favorite cheese is Brie 🧀 and her favorite thing about a charcuterie board are all the nuts, olives, fresh fruit, spreads, garnishes, and ALL the cheese.

One of Hajra’s favorite things about Honey & Hive Boards is the creativity and the fact that there’s always something new to make, learn, or experience. During her time with us, she’s gained an even greater appreciation for the artistry behind balancing flavors and presentation and for just how much love and intention goes into every board we create.

When she’s not busy creating beautiful things with us, you’ll likely find Hajra exploring a nursery, working in her garden & succulent business Hajra Mayet, shopping, taking an outdoor walk, or watching a funny movie with her family. 🌿🌷

Every business has a story behind its name. Ours starts with something you might not expect:

I’m terrified of bees. 🐝

In honor of World Honey Bee Day this Saturday, August 15th, I wanted to share a little bit about how Honey & Hive came to bee...and why our name means so much to me.

When I started this business, I wanted a name that represented gathering, community, beauty, and abundance. I kept coming back to the image of a hive: a place where everyone has a role, where beautiful things are created together, and where something incredibly sweet comes from a whole lot of work.

There was just one funny problem.

I was, and still am afraid of bees.

But instead of running from that fear, I decided to lean into it.

And somehow, that feels like the perfect metaphor for the last seven years.

Starting Honey & Hive Boards required me to step into so many things that scared me. Putting myself and my work out into the world. Taking risks. Building a team. Saying yes to opportunities I wasn’t sure I was ready for. Trusting myself enough to turn an idea into a real business.

Had I let fear make those decisions for me, Honey & Hive Boards might never have existed.

Instead, leaning into something that scared me helped me discover something I could never have imagined: the dream that Honey & Hive Boards has become.

A business built around gathering people together. A hive of incredibly talented people. A community of clients who have invited us into their weddings, birthdays, celebrations, corporate events, holidays, and some of life’s most meaningful moments.

And, of course, a whole lot of honey along the way. 🍯

So this World Honey Bee Day, I’m celebrating the tiny creature that once represented fear to me...and now represents so much of what I love about this business.

Sometimes the thing you’re afraid of is sitting right next to the thing you’re meant to find.

Today we’re celebrating Shadi’s birthday, one of the joyful faces behind Honey & Hive Boards. 🐝 🎂

Shadi is a lover of all the soft cheeses, beautiful flowers tucked into grazing tables, and a perfectly styled board where every little crevice is filled just right.

She brings so much care and thoughtfulness to everything she does, whether she’s making one of her favorite menu items (our sandwiches!), helping create a beautiful graze.

Outside of Honey & Hive Boards, you’ll likely find her unwinding with a cup of tea and Netflix and doing what she says she always enjoys…making incredible desserts with her business Little Batch Desserts
