For those garage/moving sale fans, we're having one at my mother's house at 54 (836) South Lamont Circle in Cortland this Friday, June 19th from 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday, June 20th from 9 am to noon. Lane cedar chest, tvs, tv stands, bed and mattress, dresser, desk & chair, loveseat, rocking chairs, plant stands, microwave, ladder, beautiful handmade cradle, Syracuse china, kitchen wares, rugs, marble coffee table and end table, decorative pictures, kitchen cabinet, vintage toy box, Dynastar skis and womens boots, misc. Here's the schedule for this week. We're plugging along, business as usual. This past weekend, I purchased the contents of a sewing shop in Morrisville, NY. These uhaul pictures are merely the tip of the iceberg. I wish that I thought to snap a photo BEFORE we unloaded most of it. (A huge thanks to my drummer, Pat, and Craig for helping me with this massive undertaking). Needless to say, I'll be adding A LOT of fabric and notions to the shop as time goes by and space permits. Currently, I'm organizing hundreds of patterns and spools of thread. Hopefully, all of that will be available for sale this weekend. I'm pretty excited. This will be a great addition to what Nancy at the Stitch Hub nextdoor offers. If you see a pattern that you like at the Whimsy, the Stitch Hub has weekly open sew times so you can work on your project there and benefit from Nancy's sage sewing wisdom. She also has super cute fabric to make your items with. Together...I think we might be able to fill that Joann Fabrics sized hole in your heart.

Welcome to the perils of owning a shop. These three monsters, by the incredibly talented Terry Pitzel, had to come home with me. She's threatening to make more, which will take all the restraint I have to not keep adding to my collection. I'm a serious fangirl of all the makers in the space...which can be a problem. Hah.

Hello, my fellow Whimsicals! Here are the upcoming shop hours for the week and a few photos to entice you into visiting us. The place is shaping up pretty nicely. We're still looking for a couple more vendors to fill up some shelves. Since space is limited, we're looking for different crafts from what we already feature. Currently, we have candles, pottery, thrifted clothing, bath & body products, and fine art covered. The consignment application can be found on the Whimsy's website.

This weekend was the grand opening of the Whimsy Mercantile in its new space. And what a unique space it is! Thanks to all of those who came out to support me and my extremely happy mom, who is now back in her element. It was all pretty amazing! To go from being contacted about a potential space at the beginning of April to deciding to rent it to getting movers to buying and assembling a lot of new displays to getting vendors moved in to then having a grand opening at the end of May...it was a whirlwind but I did it. I'm not sure how, but I persevered. Admittedly, I'm tired. However, seeing everyone enjoy the space so much and celebrating our local talent and creativity makes it all worthwhile. Love you all ❤️

This past weekend we had a mini-book club meeting in the new Whimsy--which was great for so many reasons. One of the reasons is that I got to see how people navigated driving here. I learned that GPS is going to take you on a wild ride when in reality, it's pretty mundane. So I attached some photos so hopefully you'll forego the GPS and trust me. Scary, I know.

Another thing that came up is that there's a memorial service happening next door in the gym at the same time as the grand opening. I got approval to leave the "Girls" entrance open for this coming weekend. This is for one time only. Normally, customers need to go through the main entrance. The Girls entrance is next to the room where the Whimsy is located, so you'll be delivered right to my doorstep. This will ensure that customers don't end up being accidentally whisked into a memorial. There's a metaphor in all of this, I'm just too tired to put my finger on it right now.

And of course another thing (I learned too much this past weekend). There's some issue with people using the front parking lot. It has nothing to do with the fine folks at the VCLC, and more to do with the town so until that's worked out, please park in the large lot behind the building and use the sidewalk to walk to the front.

And hopefully, I'll see you all this weekend either Saturday to (10 am to 5 pm) or Sunday (10 am to 4 pm) for the grand opening. The place is looking great and as of right now I have more than ten vendors moved in. Yay!
