Call for Volunteers!
The “PAIS Sea Turtle Volunteer Program” at PINS may need our help. A cold-stunned sea turtle event may occur Friday and/or Saturday.
At this time they are planning a walking patrol. They DO NOT expect to need assistance from boaters but they are asking if anyone is willing to stand by if assistance is needed.
We (3rd Coast Captains) fully support their efforts to restore the sea turtle population as part of our “Save the oceans” core values.

The November OUPV is the last class of the year Take it now and you should have your license by Feb 1.
Class starts Nov 5 for 3 weekends (Friday night and Sat/Sun daytime) so it ends before Thanksgiving. Contact me ASAP to reserve a seat.

Any mariner who submitted an application for a medical certificate to [email protected] from
September 21, 2021, through September 28, 2021, should resubmit their application package.
Due to a technical issue, medical certificate applications submitted during this time period
were not received at the National Maritime Center (NMC) and are not being processed

Expiration Date Reminder: (just received this today)
• Under 46 USC Section 7507, MMCs may only be extended for up to 1 year from their date of expiration. MMCs with national endorsements only, which expired between March 1, 2020, and June 30, 2021, are extended until the EARLIER of:
1. October 31, 2021, OR
2. One year after the initial expiration date of the credential (i.e., 1 year after the expiration date printed on the credential).

Week-night Captains' classes!
First time ever, we are offering a week-night OUPV (6-pack) captains' class starting July 19 in Flour Bluff. This will be Monday-Thursday from 5:00-9:30 p.m. for 4 weeks. An "Emergency Assistance Towing Endorsement" class will be available on the last Thursday night.
