Since we discovered this little farm, we haven’t bought eggs anywhere else.

We bring the cartons back when we need more, grab a few more, and the same little cycle continues. It’s one of those simple things that just became part of our routine.

And you don’t need this particular farm to do it.

Look for a small farm or farm stand near you. Or, if you buy eggs at a farmers market, ask if you can bring your own carton.

I’ve done this at the Highland Falls/West Point Farmers Market. I transferred the eggs into my own carton so the farmer could keep theirs to reuse, and I could keep reusing mine.

Reducing waste doesn’t always require some big lifestyle change.

Sometimes it’s just asking, “Can I use my own?”

Someone switches detergents for cleaner ingredients, and the empty packaging still ends up in the wrong bin.

The information is right there on the package. We just stop reading after the ingredients.

For the past few months, litter•LESS has existed between school hours, market days, and whatever space I could find in my car.

Lately, I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking about what comes next.

It’s still very much a work in progress, but I thought I’d share a small peek.

The new textile collection bin is now at

Not every unwanted textile is suitable for a traditional clothing-donation bin. HELPSY also accepts worn, torn, stained, or damaged textiles, as long as they are clean, dry, odor-free, and securely bagged.

Collected items are sorted based on condition. Some may be reused, while others may be repurposed or recycled instead of going directly into the trash.

A huge thank-you to the Cornwall Town Supervisor and Town Board for approving this additional textile-collection option and supporting local waste-reduction efforts.

Accepted items include clothing, shoes, accessories, towels, sheets, and other household textiles.
Please do not leave loose items or bags outside the bin.

I started this bathroom series because I know low waste can feel overwhelming.

Like… where do you even start?

So I’m showing what we actually changed in our own bathroom.

Our bathroom is small, shared, and definitely not zero-waste. Everyone in the house has different habits. Some swaps were easy, some took time, and some things are still waiting to be replaced.

But little by little since learning about zero-waste living, we’ve changed a lot. From bars to refills to bamboo swaps. We added we keep TP on hand, and excited to try which I also carry! We are still not perfect zero-wasters. Are we better with cutting down waste? Definitely!

That’s what I want people to see. Low waste doesn’t have to mean throwing everything away and buying a perfect “eco” version of your bathroom. It can start with the thing you use and buy already.

One swap makes a huge impact. Bigger than people know.

A low-waste bathroom does not have to start with a full bathroom makeover.
Honestly, please don’t throw away everything you already own just to replace it with something prettier or more eco version. That misses the point.

For us, oral care has been one of those places where I’ve had to be realistic. I’m keeping my electric toothbrush because it works for me. One of my kids is still using the free toothbrush from the dentist. And some compostable swaps I’ve tried before did not work for my teeth. That’s just real life. 🥴

But oral care is also one of those bathroom categories where small things keep getting replaced: toothpaste, mouthwash, floss, toothbrushes, tongue scrapers.
And plastic doesn’t just disappear when it leaves our bathroom.
Some of the plastic we toss today can still be around when our kids are adults.

So instead of aiming for perfect, Let’s look at the next replacement.
Can I reuse a bottle or choose less packaging? Can I buy something once and use it for years? Can I refill instead of tossing the whole container?

That’s the kind of low-waste swap that is sustainable.

A small household shift that has made a real difference for us:

We stopped treating paper towels like the automatic answer to every mess.
Not because we’re perfect or because we never use them. But, because most everyday messes don’t actually need something disposable.
This is one of those climate habits that feels almost too simple, but that’s why it works. It uses what many of us already have: old clothes, towels, napkins, rags.

The most sustainable option is often not buying something new. It’s changing what we reach for first.

Your kitchen doesn’t have to go zero-waste overnight.

Start with one thing like the sponge you use every day.�What about that green scotchbrite scrubber by the sink?�Oh and the plastic produce bags that pile up after every grocery trip.
Many common kitchen tools are made from plastic or synthetic materials, which means they can shed tiny plastic particles as they wear down. Those particles can end up in our drains, waterways, soil, and the larger environment.
