Yellow iris certainly knows how to make a statement. Its bright yellow blooms add incredible color along the water’s edge and have made it a popular pond plant for many years.
However, yellow iris is now listed as an invasive species in many areas because it grows aggressively and can outcompete native plants in natural wetlands and shorelines.
If you already have yellow iris in your pond, it's important to prevent it from spreading beyond your water feature and into natural waterways.
Beautiful? Absolutely. But it's also a good reminder that the best pond plants are the ones that balance beauty with environmental responsibility 🌿💧
