Finally had a chance to snag the world-famous trail builder Aaron Rogers for an interview. Aaron runs Rock Solid Trail Contracting which, though they make trails all over the place, started right here in Copper Harbor.

HOT OFF THE PRESS - Please share!!

Dear Houghton & Keweenaw Counties Middle & High School Students:

The CopperDog Board of Directors is pleased to announce the return of its ‘Featured Artist Program’.

The program is open to students grades 8th-12th (ages 13-19) including homeschoolers. Artwork needs to be submitted before December 31, 2023. Submissions should be e-mailed to [email protected] as a photo or scan.

Art pieces should be created in “portrait orientation” on “letter size” paper (8.5” x 11”) with full-bleed (work goes to the edge of the paper). Digital pieces are to be created in the same orientation and size with a minimum resolution of 400 pixels per inch. If you have any questions, please contact CopperDog before you start!

Artwork should be original, and include "CopperDog 2024" somewhere on the piece. Along with your submission please attach a short bio of yourself including your name, age, grade, school, and contact information. Any media can be utilized, but it should be themed around the sport of sled dog racing.

The chosen artist will be notified by CopperDog in January of 2024 and also be presented with a commemorative letter for your art portfolio, and some CopperDog souvenirs.

The Featured Art will be the 2024 official race poster, which will be visible throughout the Copper Country as advertising for this year’s race. Each official in the race will also be wearing your artwork on a badge. Additionally, artwork could be featured on CopperDog merchandise.

The Featured Artist will also be present at the start ceremony in downtown Calumet on Friday night. All monies raised from the Featured Artist sales are considered part of the overall fundraising efforts, which support the annual CopperDog events.
