Welcome to the Blessingdales Facebook fan page - the home of the largest āGreen Storeā in the Long Island Metro Area. Blessingdales offers everyday household items at discounted prices. Itās a twofold blessing in that customers buy what they need at or below the regular price they would pay for it in the stores, while providing income and training for Long Island Teen Challenge students.
Blessingdales first opened its doors on January 2nd, 1999 in Copiague, NY. The store has helped offset the cost for the students as well as provided vocational training for Long Island Teen Challenge, (LITC). LITC is a 12-14 month residential program for hurting young men, women, & married couples 17 years & older caught in the vicious cycle of drug and alcohol abuse and other life-controlling problems. LITCās mission is to help people become mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well and spiritually alive. Through their new lives, they are able to embrace their purpose and fulfill their destiny. Teen Challenge has an international credibility and 75% cure rate since 1958.
Under the leadership of David and Don Wilkerson, Jimmy Jack, founder and President of LITC, went on to graduate from Central Bible College in 1989. In 1990, Jimmy went on to establish Long Island Teen Challenge, which now has five residential homes for men and ladies.
Blessingdales also operates various flea markets in the NY and Long Island metro area. After 5 years of these operations in the town of Brentwood, and at the request of our customers who faithfully shopped at our flea markets, we opened another Blessingdales in Brentwood, NY in Sept of 2009.
