Check out this spring loaded die set I designed. It's printed solid in PLA Max. Just underneath the block in the center of the die there is a pocket for a die spring. There's a shoulder bolt that runs up from the bottom through the die spring and into the pressure pad in the center of the part. The part we needed to form is 18ga steel and has inclined flanges (flanges that are not parallel to each other) and the flanges are too close together to bend in traditional tooling. So I designed this set of tools to get the prototype parts formed! The things we do to keep our customers happy 👏🏼🍻 If we go into production with the part this tool set will be remade out of tool steel.
