I'll admit it—I’ve been slacking on making panfish tackle lately. I've been so focused on tying walleye hair jigs that I decided it was time to switch gears and whip something up for the crappies.

This little bait features:
• 1/16 oz Round Ball Jig Head

• 1/0 Heavy Wire Hook

• Green and Black Chenille Body

• Black Bucktail Tail

Simple, durable, and packed with fish-catching potential. The subtle profile and natural movement of the bucktail should make it a great option for crappies, bluegills, and other panfish.

My wife is the Director of the Culinary Program at The Landings of Kaukauna, a facility that cares for residents living with Alzheimer's and Dementia.
Recently, the Activities Director was helping prepare a resident for a fishing outing and was looking for some gear and tackle to make the day possible. My wife mentioned WatersEdge Custom Tackle, and I was more than happy to help! 😃

Today, I'm donating a fishing rod along with a small pack of custom panfish jigs and a trout spinner that I created specifically for him to use at Memorial Park in Appleton.

The pictures having been rolling in the last few days.
My Ned head Hair jig has been on fire 🔥 as of late for Mr. Tim Sharpe. He is having success working the tops of rock reefs, but also working off the edges.

The man, the myth, the legend himself — Mr. Dan Claussen — sent me this photo today, and it absolutely made my day. 🎣🔥

Dan is a true Lady Bago walleye slayer, and this beautiful fish was caught on one of my custom
Twisted Shiners.
I can’t say it enough — I truly appreciate customers taking the time to share their catches and photos, Thank you Dan!

What really fired me up though, was hearing that this was the 7th fish on the same bait… and it’s still holding up strong. 💪

That’s always my goal with Watersedge tackle: build High quality tackle you can count on when you’re out on the water chasing fish.

NED Head Bucktail Hair Jig or ROUND BALL Buckshot Rattling Hair Jig.

Both are unique. Both are different from the typical hair jigs most anglers are throwing.

And different can be very productive—especially on heavily pressured water like Lake Winnebago. Sometimes showing walleyes something they haven't seen before is all it takes to trigger more bites.

The Ned Head Bucktail Hair Jig offers a unique profile and presentation, while the Round Ball Buckshot Rattling Hair Jig adds sound and vibration to help fish locate it in stained water.

I received a text message yesterday with a photo, and it absolutely made my day.

This is exactly why I build custom tackle—I love helping other anglers catch fish!
This beautiful walleye was caught on one of my custom Twisted Shiners out in North Dakota. I'm not sure which lake it came from, but that's part of what makes fishing so much fun. Whether it's a secret spot, a new bait, or miles of water waiting to be explored, there are endless opportunities for us anglers.

Bucktail Versus Craft fur Leeches

Bucktail will hold its form more adequate for stinger hook.
Craft fur will flow more with rabbit tail but creates a thicker profile.

I finally ventured out with the boat after surgery, and I brought the family with me. I have been itching to get out and chase some walleyes.

My custom hair Jig managed two walleyes in just about an hour of fishing, plus a bonus catch.
