DOWNTOWN COLVILLE—THIS MATTERS.
There’s talk about the city taking over our downtown public parking lots.
Before that happens, we need to ask a simple question:
👉 Who should control the future of our downtown—bureaucracy, or the people who actually keep it alive?
Because here’s the truth…
The Colville Parking Commission is a group of **unpaid local volunteers—downtown business owners and retailers—**who understand how this town works because we live it every day.
A Downtown Parking Commission keeps decisions in the hands of:
* Local business owners
* Property owners
* The people who rely on customers walking through their doors every single day
Not just policy makers sitting behind a desk.
⸻
If the city takes it over:
* Decisions get slower and less flexible
* Maintenance gets slower too
If we keep a local commission:
* Parking supports business, not just rules
* Revenue stays right here in downtown Colville
* We can adapt for seasons, events, and real-life use
* We protect parking for CUSTOMERS
⸻
This isn’t just about parking lots.
This is about:
* Our local economy
* Our small businesses
* The experience people have when they come downtown
Because if people can’t easily park…
they don’t shop.
And when they don’t shop—downtown suffers.
⸻
Colville has always done things differently.
We build things that last.
We support our own.
We don’t hand over control without a conversation.
The parking commission is currently an advocate for downtown businesses and we need that advocacy.

🚨 PUBLIC HEARING: Tuesday, May 12th at 6:00 PM Colville City Hall
