As Joe’s Memorial is approaching, I’d like I mention/ask a few things.
When: November 1st, 9AM
Where: “The Warehouse” 1100 10th Avenue (Not Joey’s Thrift Mall, but next door)
What: A few stories, some photos, some music, a few breakfast snacks, coffee and orange juice
Who’s invited: Anyone, please feel free to share, as some of his friends are not on social media. I’ve reached out individually, but may not have gotten to all of them.
Please know I’m not a public speaker and I’m going to try to relay some thoughts and feelings I have about Joe as best I can. I will cry. The location was chosen because if you know Joe, you know it’s a place he loved to putter, chatter, create and work. It’s also the place he loved to help others even if it was a flat tire in front of the thrift mall. It’s dusty, there will be a “hodge podge” of seating. As a tribute to Joe, even at his most fancy service, the family wore white t-shirts and jeans because that was Joe…no pretense of too being uppity or hoity toity as I put it. So, please do come casual in your jeans, cargo pants or navy blue Dickie slacks and boots. You never know, we might have to pitch in and jump a battery or change a flat.
Also, since food will be served and we’d like not to run out (In Joe’s opinion, this is the worst thing that can happen…not have enough food). Please send me a quick message if you know you’ll be attending so I’ll have an idea. Also, if you neglect to heads me up and want to come anyway, please do so, as I’m more of the nature that if we run out of food, so be it. It’s a memorial.
Thanks for your prayers, conversations, cards, food and support these past few weeks. I know I couldn’t have navigated a memorial a month ago.
