Meet Honey, our new bookstore dog! She’s a 10-week-old goldendoodle and has already been snuggling with customers this morning. Now she’s asleep!

She’ll be in whenever Grant works, so you might see her on your next visit. We’re trying to socialize her over the next month, so don’t be shy — if you want a snuggle, just ask!

Honey has also figured out how to escape this single-level box wall. She’s sneaky. We love her.

Happy Summer! 🐶🌈❤️🎉

Congratulations to Adrianna Kimbrough for winning the inaugural 2026 Clintonville Books Poetry Award for her book Woman in Pieces!

Her raw vulnerability and sharp insight electrified us from the first page. Adrianna’s voice is immediate, piercing, and unforgettable. This collection stayed with us long after we finished reading it.

In addition to the $500 prize, Adrianna will be featured at an upcoming Clintonville Books poetry reading. We are also working to bring more copies of Woman in Pieces into the shop and will be releasing a special signed limited edition in the near future.

Congratulations again, Adrianna.

And thank you to everyone who submitted. We were moved by the range and quality of the work and feel honored to read alongside so many remarkable poets.

Congratulations to the seven finalists of the inaugural Clintonville Books Poetry Award:

& David Dixon

Adrianna Kimbrough

These books were selected for the distinctiveness of their voices, the originality of their perspectives, and their ability to express the immensity of human experience. Together, they reflect both the diversity and the shared threads that define this moment.

Thank you for your patience as we read through more than 100 submissions. Columbus is full of extraordinary poets. It was a privilege to spend time with your work.

To those not selected as finalists: this was a difficult decision. Your work remains valuable and compelling. Keep writing—we know you will.

There were many poems we admired and look forward to sharing some of them with our community in the coming months.

The winner will be announced Monday, April 27.

Short stories and essays deserve a time to shine. Join us by diving into meaningful discussions with low pressure with the Shorties Book Club. Our first book will be Recitatif by Nobel Prize winning author, Toni Morrison.

Following the aftermath of the civil rights movement, Recitatif is a mind bending exploration on bias. At only 40 pages, it is a short yet dense gateway into the world of Morrison.

Lead by bookseller and educator, Tracy, Shorties Book Club is an excellent spark for conversation for teens to adults. Register online and take 10% off of the book when you come in.

This event is part of Beloved: Ohio Celebrates Toni Morrison, a statewide celebration honoring the life, literature, and legacy of Toni Morrison. Learn more at ohiocelebratestonimorrison.org.

Beloved: Ohio Celebrates Toni Morrison is designed and led by Literary Cleveland in partnership with Ohio Humanities and collaborators across Ohio.

Plot Twist! our popular sober burlesque r***e is coming up on Saturday, April 4th at 7:30pm. If you've never been to one of our amazing drag or burlesque shows, now is the time to come out and show your support.

Yesterday, HP249 was passed through the Ohio house of representatives. Among other things this restricts drag and burlesque performances to businesses with a "cabaret licence". It also puts our trans and gender non-conforming friends and neighbors at risk of undue policing, as well as limiting our freedoms of speech and artistic expression across Ohio.

So what can we do to help? We would like to call on all of you to call and write your senator and ask them not to pass this bill. Contact Gov. DeWine and encourage him to veto it, as similar bills have been deemed not only unconstitutional, but unenforceable in other states, such as West Virginia, Texas, and Tennessee.

And in the short term, come out to one of our shows and celebrate our freedoms while we've still got them. If this bill becomes a law, they may be some of our last.
