May Employee of the Month, Laura Walter!
There are few things more peaceful than beautiful sunsets, campfires and spending time with friends and family. These are the simple things that make Laura Walter’s world go round.
Laura spent her childhood and early adolescence between Idaho, Montana, and South Dakota. Ready for a change of scenery, she and two friends set off for Albuquerque, New Mexico, beginning a decade-long desert adventure. After seeing something new, she returned home to the mountains of Montana and back to work at Montana Silversmiths from her previous employment. It is within these walls that her future mother-in-law boldly stated that Laura would be perfect for her son and set them up. The rest is history and they are proud parents to one son. “As corny as it sounds, they are my heart.”
Spending time with her family and friends is high on Laura’s priority list. They can be found exploring trails on 4wheelers and camping when given the chance. Her son is active in sports, and they enjoy watching him play.
When asked to describe herself she states that she’s quiet, empathetic, and “getting feistier the older I get!” Empathy being a quality that she values deeply and wishes this world had more of. She often wonders about the direction the country is going and what the world will look like when her son gets to be her age. In the meantime, she challenges herself to be a better person than she was yesterday and to give herself grace. Laura is a person that leads by example.
Laura has devoted over 15 years to Montana Silversmiths and is the lead in the paint department but wears many different hats. She helps with stop-off, racking, in the steam room, and has been known to be the hand model in social videos. “She steps in wherever is needed and never complains” says Finishing Supervisor, Janine Gotschall. Laura takes pride in every piece of jewelry or buckle she touches, noting that she wants each piece to look exactly how she’d want to receive it.
She looks ahead to the days she’ll have more freedom to travel with her family. One item high on her bucket list? Mud bogging! Until that day, we’re lucky to see her smiling face in the factory and her occasional appearance in videos! Thank you for all you do Laura!
