Sans Souci is a local not-for-profit organization whose mission is to be the community partner that improves the ability of our neighbors to support themselves "without worry." Since 1979, Sans Souci (French, meaning “without worry”) has operated a thrift store in Columbus, Indiana that serves the Bartholomew County community in a variety of capacities. To run the thrift store, Sans Souci fully re

lies on tangible donations from community members. Sans Souci graciously accepts donations of everything from clothing to furniture to household items such as home décor and books. Donated items get priced and placed in the thrift store and funds that are raised from the thrift store support the three core programs: no-cost, low-cost and employee development. No-Cost: Sans Souci allows any Bartholomew County community member in need to shop free of charge for essential items such as clothing, shoes and winter coats. Low-Cost: By intentionally pricing items in the thrift store at a low cost, we provide opportunities and support self-sufficiency for community members to purchase items they need at a cost they can afford. Employee Development: Sans Souci hires individuals who have struggled to obtain or retain reliable employment elsewhere. Through training and one-on-one attention, Sans Souci works to remove the barriers in our employee's lives with the goal of having each employee reach self-sufficiency. It is only because of our amazing donors, shoppers and volunteers that we can combat poverty in our community and work towards our goal of having everyone in our community live life "without worry."

It’s amazing what happens when a caring group of community members comes together!

Throughout the day, we had nearly 100 community members join us to help sort donations and begin our painting project!

Thanks to United Way of Bartholomew Co for organizing Day of Caring. Together, we are creating a community where everyone can live life “without worry!” (The exact meaning of Sans Souci 💚)

Last night, we tried something new- Party with Purpose! 🎉

A couple months ago, we had a community member ask if they could host a private shopping event at Sans Souci in celebration of their 40th birthday. This was a new idea to us, but we loved the concept and “Party with Purpose” was developed soon after!

After the success of this event, we are thrilled to announce that this is now a permanent option! 💚 Party with Purpose is perfect for anyone who loves shopping at Sans Souci and wants to celebrate a birthday or milestone in a meaningful way.

Hosts provide the food/drink and we supply the fun and finds! Interested or have additional questions? Check out the photo below for more information!

The signs are pointing toward some exciting changes ahead as we officially begin much-needed exterior updates to our building!

Starting tomorrow morning, all of our exterior signs will be removed while we wait for brand-new signage to be installed in the coming weeks. These new signs will help improve visibility, provide clearer direction, and better share the mission behind all that we do. 💚

The building will also be getting pressure washed this week, and exterior painting is scheduled to begin Friday (weather pending)!

We are operating as normal during all of this and we can’t wait to show you the final results later this summer! HUGE thank you to our friends at REMC (Operation Round-Up), Reeves Foundation and Old National Bank for making these improvements possible!

TODAY IS THE DAY! 🎓 We hope you will join us this afternoon as we celebrate these 5 incredible graduates and all that they have accomplished. There is a short program beginning at 4:30pm, which is followed by an open-house celebration hour from 5pm-6pm!

As a reminder, Sans Souci will be closing at 3:00pm today due to this event.
