Be inspired by the natural beauty of the Nebraska prairie. Made with U.S. wool in 3 plies, Brown Sheep Prairie Spun DK is the perfect weight for crafting something to wear and love. The color palette is inspired by nature and the prairie landscape that surrounds their mill. This yarn is lightweight enough to wear comfortably all year long in a shawl, sweater or hat.

SAVE THE DATE!! June 20- Worldwide Stitch in Public Day- I will be closing the studio at 2pm and heading over to the park. Take the entrance road down around the right hand bend in the road. On your left side will be a shelter. We typically sit under the trees in the shade to the west of the shelter. Park anywhere near there. The park is pretty busy at that time. Bring chairs and drinks/snacks if you want them. There are usually porta potties across from there. Look for a group of stitchers in a circle.

It seems like May just arrived and now we are on its final days! Kids are out of school, graduations are happening and our summer vacations will be here shortly. Last weekend kicked it all ff for me with the . Every year it gets better. I loved seeing all the farm and hand dyed yarns. If you wanted to find fiber for spinning, felting or weaving, there was more than ever before. The fears for rain on Saturday never came to fruition and actually was nice and cool with clouds, making this a wonderful experience for all. I took 2 photos and both were of the wee flock of sheep getting used to the area where the sheepdog demonstrations were about to commence. I think I had more fun saying “Hi!” to all of you that visited at the same time! One day I will be a better photographer.

We have about 1 month left for the Sleeveless Makealong to make another. I have a great start to this one and I believe I will finish in time. Check out the back panel of my Walled Garden Vest by Sonja Bargielowska. I have a fascination with modular quilt inspired designs, and this log cabin style pattern fits the bill. I saw it first when this pattern arrived on the Hot Right Now list on Ravelry. When I really became interested in it was when I saw Susan B. Anderson post about her version on Instagram. I love when an already popular designer shows off another designers pattern that she’s making. Susan is excellent about taking notes of her modifications too. I used Mitchell Wool Farm Friends Worsted in all the natural dyed colorways we have in the studio. I think they are perfect for this project, don’t you? Have you joined in on the sleeveless fun with me? Remember, you can knit, crochet or weave & sew up a sleeveless garment by the summer solstice, June 21 to win fabulous prizes! Whatcha waiting for? A quick note: If you have already finished a sleeveless garment or more, please email me an image, or bring it in to the studio so I can grab an pic to enter you in the giveaway and post your lovely projects in this newsletter!

I have finished my Clova Slipover made with Brown Sheep Nature Spun Worsted just in time for the weather to hit the mid 80’s. I can’t express how much this project handed my knitting mojo back on a silver platter. This one fits me perfectly and only took me less than 2 months to complete. We have about 1 month left for the Sleeveless Makealong to make another. I have a great start to this one and I believe I will finish in time.

This 4 - day weekend truly starts the summer season for most of us with Memorial Day next Monday. For me it’s the Great Lakes Fiber Show in Wooster, Ohio on Saturday & Sunday, May 23 & 24. This has been one of my most favorite shows of the year. If you have not visited this fiber heaven, I highly recommend. I will be there on Saturday afternoon so the studio will be closed that day. It’s totally worth the 1.5 hour trip there. Bring the family, as there are activities for the young’uns as well!

Have you started a sleeveless garment to participate in the Sleeveless Make Along? We have until the Summer Solstice, which is Sunday, June 21 at 11:59p.m. to make as many sleeveless tops as you would like. This includes vests, tanks, ruanas, waistcoats and slipovers. Knitted, crocheted and woven + sewed garments are included. The more you make & finish, the more chances you get in the raffle to win fantastic prizes. There is plenty of time to get at least one completed by then. The best part is you will have at least one new top you can wear for the summer! Need some inspiration? Check out my sleeveless bundle of my favorites in Ravelry here. I have added more patterns so it’s worth another look!
