This is the desk of a Scottish laird or lord -- a traveler, a hunter/fisher, an equestrian, a statesman, an historian, a would-be poet and writer. The double brass ink well is missing its ink jars but still a beautiful set piece. Horse head bookends hold up a small array of books, and a small brass quail makes an excellent paperweight. We just added fresh botanical, scientific, and garden elements to the shop, including a pair of wheat leaf candle holders, small German mortar and pestle, volumetric flask, a hummingbird wall pocket, a cute little jaguar planter, and a vintage Japanese silk and rayon kimono. Is Dark Academia ever really out of season? We don't think so, which is why we put together another Dark Academia display for you to shop. Notes of religion, science, and learning in general. Don't miss the Celestial globe, a copy of one created in the 1500s to teach the constellations. The art also features figures of the 1500s, a gentleman of the period, and a copy of Hans Holbein 's chalk sketch of Sir Thomas Moore. Can't you just feel the sea breeze? This is our second nautical display, all blue and white and everything ocean. In addition to the art, shells and coral, we've added a concrete boat planter for indoor or outdoor gardens, a French Provencale fisherman Santon, and a gorgeous Splash art glass vase. We will have two nautical displays this month. This is our first. We call it Dark and Stormy Seas, and includes a brass masted sailing ship, a sea captain, a cod box with sliding lid, a vintage copy of Victor Hugo's Toilers of the Sea...and yes, a pair of bull shark jaws. As the season moves into summer, we leave behind spring's sweet pastels and into the more fiery shades of red and hot pink, from lily of the valley and violets to roses, geraniums and fuschia. This is our homage to Summer Flowers. We have included a beautiful bowl with hand-painted roses, teacups with summery flowers and above it all, a Wallace Nutting hand-colored photograph, The Coming Out of Rosa, with a gorgeous rose arch framing the two on the porch. It's summer in the country, a display that began with that cast-iron chick in the lower left corner. Sure, it's a vintage shooting gallery target, but never mind that. We have tumblers with a wheat motif, a rustic candle stand, a scratch whiskey jug and plenty of country-themed art. It's new to our shop inside , 1125 Kenny Centre Drive in Columbus, Ohio. Our locked case has been turned over to the ladies. With Mother's Day around the corner, why not feature portraits, busts, even a statue of various ladies from various eras, and each lovely in her own way? We included a daguerreotype of a young girl but you can imagine her grown up, becoming just like one of the ladies around her. "And All the Ladies" is new to our shop. Stop by for a look. The Garden at Home is a beautiful, original oil painting, artist signed and perfect as the principal piece on a gallery wall. This may be a garden to aspire to or to simply admire, it needs no maintenance and is just as lush in the dead of winter as it is in the height of summer.
