Because we do so much of the hobby on Facebook these days, I’ve been meaning to find a way to share my hits and available cards with friends and other collectors without clogging up my personal profile. Thus Ben’s Hockey Cards is born.
Everything I post here will be available for sale, unless I state otherwise, as I do have a small personal collection.
I figured last nights break action is the best night I could pick to start this page. I was in FIVE breaks yesterday, from five different breakers, with breaks starting around 4 PM my time and going until well after 1 AM.
My first break of the day, a chronology break with 780 and I had CBJ and I didn’t get skunked pulling a nice Atkinson auto patch. Hitting the Merzlikins in this is gonna be tough.
Then I took a last minute flyer in a Chronology mini with Berta Breaks and as an example of how my luck was going, not only did I get a team (Arizona), but I hit 2 autos on a low hit team in 1 inner. The Letterman aren’t great, but the Hayton auto should find some interest.
Next up was what I expected to be my last break of the night with Blue Line Breaks, where I had both Toronto and Boston. Not as good a break as I’d hoped with 2 big name teams, my first 2 time capsules (I LOVE minis) and a Toronto auto made it fun.
Then, in a surprise, Sunny’s Redline box breaks was able to fill the Black Diamond master case Sunny had been sitting on for a while. It was a tough fill for an expensive product but it only took 4 days. I had hit the Oilers in a mini a few days ago, and had high hopes for this as I’ve seen several McDavids pulled from these. I didn’t do quite that well but I did hit a very nice Draisaitl patch.
Speaking of patches and surprise breaks, because James Paul of Oil City Sports Cards worked really hard, we filled his Ultimate Collection Master in about the same time as Sunny’s Black Diamond case took to till, and hard work means minis and micros. And the dice were very good to me, landing me FIVE teams in minis; NSH, NYR, NYI, OTT, and WSH. And boy did that pay off. There are ~64 cards in an Ultimate Collection case and I hit 15 of them, including an absolute monster in a Gretzky 3 color patch 5/5. I also hit 2 Erik Brannstrom patch autos, including an RPA to his jersey number, a Panarin auto, and a Brady Tkachuk auto, just to name the highlights.
Every card listed is for sale, though they won’t be in hand for a week to 10 days most likely
