New Website for Wisconsin Wool Works!
Following two decades of promoting the fiber arts and Wisconsin’s sheep industry at the Wisconsin State Fair and Wisconsin Sheep & Wool Festival, the Wisconsin Wool Works! has expanded its marketing efforts, launching a new website https://www.wisconsinwoolworks.com . Check it out!
The website was started in 2020 as a means of helping the WWW vendors sell their items during the pandemic, but will continue to help us reach our customer base, provide a year round venue for wool products, and help educate the public about the many reasons to use wool.
The grassroots marketing effort, originally begun in 1999, was started to help fiber artists expand their markets and to educate the general public about wool and the sheep industry. A function of the Wisconsin Sheep Breeders Cooperative, the Wool Works hosts approximately twenty consignors each year, mainly artisans who in turn volunteer to help at the booth which is located in the sheep barn during the eleven days of the state fair or at the festival in September. While at the state fair, Wool Works consignors and volunteers from local guilds also demonstrate skills such as knitting, spinning, and felting to fairgoers.
The Wisconsin Sheep Breeders Co-op has represented the state’s sheep industry since 1875, supporting producer and youth education and representing its membership in legislative matters as part of the American Sheep Industry Association (ASI). For more information of the cooperative and to read its newsletter, go to www.wisbc.com or contact the co-op office at 608 743-9080 (weekdays after 5:00)
