If your plant looks like someone dusted it with powdered sugar... that's not a good thing. 😬

Powdery Mildew is one of the most common diseases gardeners run into during warm, humid weather.

The telltale sign?
⚪ White, powdery spots on leaves and stems.
As the disease spreads, leaves may yellow, curl, dry out, and eventually die. While it usually won't kill the plant outright, it can reduce production and leave your garden looking rough.

The good news? Catching it early makes a huge difference.
✔ Improve airflow around plants
✔ Avoid overcrowding
✔ Remove heavily infected leaves
✔ Use a fungicide if needed

Think of Powdery Mildew as your garden's version of a bad head cold. It's much easier to manage when you catch it early.

For years, we've helped horse owners find the right feed for their horses. Along the way, we noticed something.

Many folks wanted a straightforward horse feed. Not a specialty feed. Not a high-performance race horse ration. Just a quality feed designed specifically for horses.

So we worked with Purina to create one.
Introducing T&C 12-8 Horse Feed a pelleted feed manufactured exclusively for Town & Country Feed Store and formulated specifically for horses.

✔ 12% Protein
✔ 8% Fat
✔ Horse Mineral Package
✔ Designed for everyday horses

We're excited to finally share it with you.
Stop by the store and ask us about it. We'd love to talk horses and help you decide if it's a good fit for your feeding program.

Your garden looks amazing.
Too bad it's not actually producing anything. 😅

If your plants are big, green, and healthy-looking but you're not getting tomatoes, peppers, squash, or beans, one of these three culprits is usually to blame:

🌿 Too much nitrogen
Your plants are focused on growing leaves instead of producing fruit.

🔥 Heat stress
When temperatures climb, flowers can struggle to pollinate and may simply fall off.

💧 Inconsistent watering
Plants under stress often drop blooms before fruit has a chance to develop.

Tomatoes, peppers, and many other vegetables can drop blossoms when temperatures get too hot or when plants experience drought stress. Too much nitrogen fertilizer can also create beautiful plants with very few vegetables.

The good news? Most of these problems can be corrected.

You know the feeling.

You're mowing the yard, minding your own business, and there it is.

Another fire ant mound.

So you grab a bag of ant killer, treat the mound, and feel pretty good about it.

For a few weeks.

Then one day you look out across the yard and somehow there are even more mounds than before.

What gives?

The truth is that fire ants are a lot like weeds. The mound you see is usually not the only colony in the yard. While you're focused on the big one, there may be several smaller colonies quietly getting established. When that large mound is gone, those smaller colonies suddenly have less competition and begin to grow.

That's why treating individual mounds often feels like a never-ending cycle.

The good news? There's a better approach.

Swipe through to learn why treating the entire yard—not just the mound—is one of the most effective ways to keep fire ants under control.

And if you're tired of dodging mounds every time you mow, stop by Town & Country Feed Store. We'll help you put together a plan that works.

You've probably heard people talking about New World Screwworm lately, and there's been no shortage of headlines.

Here's the first thing to know: this isn't just a cattle issue. Sheep, goats, horses, pets, wildlife, and other warm-blooded animals can all be affected.

The second thing to know: the best protection isn't a new product or a complicated management practice. It's the same things good livestock owners have always done.
✔ Check your animals regularly
✔ Treat wounds promptly
✔ Maintain a good fly control program
✔ Pay attention when something doesn't look right

The good news is that New World Screwworm has not been detected in Mississippi. But staying informed and being prepared is never a bad idea.

Swipe through for a quick overview, save this post for later, and share it with another livestock owner who may find it helpful.

Your tomatoes don't have a disease. They have a watering problem. 🍅

If you've noticed dark, leathery spots forming on the bottom of your tomatoes, you're probably dealing with Blossom-End Rot.

The good news? It's usually not caused by bugs or disease.

The bad news? Your tomatoes are basically throwing a tantrum because they're not getting consistent moisture.

In Mississippi, the most common cause is uneven watering. When plants go through cycles of drying out and then getting soaked, they struggle to take up calcium properly, leading to Blossom-End Rot. Container tomatoes are especially prone to the problem because they dry out so quickly.

A few simple fixes:
✔ Water consistently
✔ Mulch around plants
✔ Avoid letting plants wilt between waterings
✔ Keep an eye on container gardens during hot weather

The good news is that future tomatoes on the plant are often perfectly fine once watering improves.

Have you had tomato b***y problems this year? Drop a 🍅 in the comments if Blossom-End Rot has already shown up in your garden.
