Just a heads up from Tiger Pawn

We’ll be closed this Monday for Memorial Day at both our Columbia and Mexico locations to celebrate and honor our heroes.

It’s a day to pause, remember, and reflect on those who gave their all. We’re grateful for the freedoms we have and the sacrifices that made them possible.

Four guns were stolen out of cars in Ashland early Thursday after three people burglarized 18 cars in the area, including a Jefferson City police vehicle.

Happy Birthday to the best Dad to our girls and Husband to me! He makes our lives fun with all his antics and willingness to go on all our crazy adventures! He’s ALWAYS ready for a good time! If you see him today, give him a few spankings, cause the girls and I stopped at about 30 before our hands started hurting! Love you!!!❤️❤️

There is a pretty decent chance Tiger Pawn will be taking a snow day on Thursday Dec 22nd. With blowing snow and dangerous wind chill conditions we do not expect many people to be out. As many of you have become aware, we have been closed on most Saturdays lately. My kids have grown to the age where they are competing in various sports on most weekends. While I love my business and my customers, I cherish these moments with my kids and I know that it’s a small window of time for me to enjoy these moments with them. So, if you miss us on a Saturday please understand and try us again another time. Thanks, Dan

Good Morning everyone! I want to share a story with you that I hope illustrates some of the frustration that can come along with working in the pawn business…

First, let me start by saying that when you enter our store, we truly want to be of service to you. I can’t reiterate it enough, our goal is to under promise and over deliver on every transaction. Sometimes we can help and sometimes we can’t, but we always strive to do it with kindness and compassion. On to the story…

So, as many of you know, we offer jewelry repair from a master jeweler at a discount rate. Last week a woman came in with a ring that had gone into the garbage disposal and needed restoration. The job would consist of a diamond replacement, resizing, a new rhodium plate, and the correction of multiple gouges in the ring shank. I itemized the cost of each job and explained the process and quoted her $240 to which she agreed. Once the jeweler had the ring he noticed two more small diamonds that were also broken and asked if he should repair those
as well. I told him to proceed. The ring was delivered back to me five days later looking brand new and BEAUTIFUL!!! Best of all, my cost was not as high as I expected even with the extra work so she was going to pay less than the quote even though we did more work. I was very proud of the job we did and was excited for her to see her “new” ring. When she came in and I handed it to her, her first response was that she’d heard pawnshops switch out the diamonds for CZ’s(a fake diamond). I underpromised and overdelivered and I did it because I love helping people. However, she couldn’t see past the stereotype.

In conclusion, folks please don’t assume the worst about pawnshops. We are good people doing good work. We are honest and hardworking. Give us a try and you’ll see.
