Ever wonder why the bridge is pulling up off of the top of your acoustic guitar? Many manufacturers mask off the bridge footprint, then spray the finish on the guitar, then glue on the bridge. Unfortunately, the masking doesn’t extend all the way to the edge of the bridge. In the case of this guitar, there’s over 1/8” band around the edge of the bridge where the wood glue was trying to keep wood bonded to finish. Eventually, the tension of the strings pulling on the bridge will work the weak back edge glue joint loose. The fix is to remove the bridge completely, remove the finish on the top out to the edge of the footprint, remove the old glue, and reattach with a good wood to wood bond. It takes some time and it isn’t cheap, but that’s how you fix a manufacturer’s flaw when they refuse to address it on instruments under a certain price point.
