Just want to let you all know that this TUESDAY, DECEMBER 6TH, at 6 pm, we’ll be celebrating the paperback release of my friend Chad’s most recent book—BEAST: JOHN BONHAM AND THE RISE OF LED ZEPPELIN.

Chad will be here to sign books, and I’ll bring some bottles of wine to celebrate. It’ll be our last author event in our space on Main Street (bittersweet, I know 😭). Hope to see you then! 🎉🍾

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!

We’ve got a lot to be thankful for this year, so we’re starting early. We’ll be closed today through Friday. We’ll open back up for Small Business Saturday. See you then! 🦃🍂🥧

Now that our Kickstarter campaign has officially closed, I get the privilege of giving a final update. We raised a grand total of $77,379, surpassing our goal by $17,379. We asked for help, and then received more help than we asked for. I’m struggling to describe how it feels to be on the receiving end of such a rare, and really miraculous, kind of kindness.

Let me mention one other statistic that struck us as significant: by the end we’d received 627 pledges. Seeing how many people in our community want this bookstore to succeed, I feel a great sense of reassurance. I also feel deeply indebted to everyone who helped us get this far. I’ll keep you all in the loop as we step into the new year, and beyond. Thank you all sincerely.

I want to make a quick appreciation post for all the great media coverage our Kickstarter campaign received this week, and for everyone who’s chipped in to help so far!

With a little less than a week left, we’re about 2/3rds of the way to our goal. Check the link in our bio to read more about it. This is a wild, exciting—somewhat nerve-racking—time, so thank you sincerely to everyone who’s here with us for it.

We’re making fun Halloween plans for THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27th! 🎃👻💀

From 2-5 pm, we’ll be a stop on the Halloween Stroll. In addition to handing out candy, our friend (and storytime leader) Anna has put together a neat jack-o’-lantern craft for the kids to take home. So throw on something spooky and stop by!!

Hey, here’s a fun little thing we threw together last minute. Today is National Comic Book Day, so our friend Anna—who you may know from our Saturday morning storytimes—dropped off these goodie bags with comics and cool craft supplies. They’re free to the first 20 kids who come through this weekend! 🦸‍♀️🦹🦸‍♂️

Hey everybody—next THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, at 6 pm, we’ll be hosting poet Jayme Ringleb. Jayme will be here to celebrate the release of SO TALL IT ENDS IN HEAVEN. Our friend Ed Madden will also be here to lead a discussion of the book. It should be really interesting, and a lot of fun!

Jayme is a q***r writer raised in the southern United States and northern Italy. Jayme graduated from USC, and has since had poems published in major literary magazines like Poetry, Kenyon Review, Gulf Coast, and Ploughshares.

Ed Madden is a professor at USC and a celebrated poet as well. His fifth book, A POOKA IN ARKANSAS, just won the Hilary Tham Prize and will be published next year.

This SATURDAY during Soda City market, from 11am-12pm, my friend Claire Bryant will be here for a pop-up cello performance! She’ll be selling and signing her new debut album, Whole Heart, featuring seven new contemporary classical works for cello, violin, and viola.

In addition to free music by Claire, who’s a Juilliard-trained master of her craft by the way, we’ll also have coffee and I’ll grab some sweet treats from the market. See you Saturday!

We’ve got a fun thing coming up next weekend! On SATURDAY, AUGUST 20TH from 10am-1pm, we’re putting together a scavenger hunt in the mall based on our favorite picture book characters. We’ll hide these little cutouts all around the building.

There will be prizes for everyone who participates, and I’m thinking a grand prize for whoever finds the most. It’s meant for kids, of course, but everyone is welcome to play along. So see you next Saturday!

I’m really excited about this one!!

My friend and neighbor Noah makes cool comics (check them out ), and now he has a full-length graphic novel coming out! So we’re throwing him a proper book launch party this TUESDAY, JULY 26th, at 6 pm. Stop by and meet him, have a glass of wine, and help us celebrate this big accomplishment. It’ll be a lot of fun!
