Indoor vermicomposting is a simple, odor-free way to turn kitchen scraps into nutrient-rich compost using composting worms, usually red wigglers. In this compact indoor bin, worms break down fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, tea leaves, and paper bedding into “worm castings” — a natural soil amendment packed with beneficial microbes and plant nutrients.
Because vermicomposting happens in a contained environment, it works year-round in apartments, homes, classrooms, and offices. A healthy worm bin produces little to no odor (it might smell like fresh soil), takes up minimal space, and helps reduce the amount of food waste sent to landfills.
Indoor vermicomposters are an easy way to recycle everyday food scraps into something useful for houseplants, gardens, seed starting mixes, and raised beds. And kids love helping with worm bins!
