Lions Mane experiment final result. After 4 transfers, and different recipes, the plate is looking pretty good. This is going to grain tomorrow and I’ll be comparing the jars during colonization. Also going to be comparing them when they go to Masters Mix and fruit.

Been keeping track of all the data , this experiments been fun. Can’t wait to see the results, there may be a difference or not, I dunno but we’ll see 😃

Lions Mane Gourmet on Petri Dish experiment

This is 4 days of growth.

Two plates in the first couple of pics. Both have transfers from same plate, going to two different recipes. One recipe is the pr-mix from . The other is one I put together.

You can see the nice growth on Bas’ mix, so I chose that to do the transfers off of, to 3 different types of PDA recipes that had different additives…ie… yeast, peptone, or neither.

Sorry for the condensation, I think it might be good for the growth, to keep a little moisture in the dish. What do y’all think?

The best looking and fastest growing will go to grain and will be part of the “grain stage” of the experiment. Details of that in the post before this one.

Will be updating as the experiment progresses.

I’m gonna make some really nice dishes in the kitchen out of these! My mouths literally watering just thinking about it! I hear it tastes like seafood, that’s so awesome 🤤

Lions Mane - Gourmet Experiment

After many transfers and different recipes of agar, I picked the plates I liked the best, cut them into wedges and tossed em into some quart jars with Rye Berry grain that have been soaked in water and coffee.

Inoculated on morning of 3/3, so it has been 4 days. These pics are from right before posting.

I’m going to continue posting the progress of the experiment in future posts.

What I’m looking for is…

1 - How growth of mycelium on the plate affects time of colonization, using multiple agar recipes…as this will be the main source of nutrients during intital grain colonization.

2 - From these different agar/grain jars…I want to see colonization times on Masters Mix bags

3 - Compare the fruits and time it takes to grow in the recommended parameters..ie humidity, temp

Update on King Stropharia Culture on Petri Dish…continuation of a prior post.

Will be taking this to grain once colonized fully and putting it in a huge tub to grow it indoors. This gourmet grows on the ground, and I don’t have a backyard or front yard so….I want to eat these so it’s my only option.

Lion’s Mane - Gourmet Culture on Petri Dish

Ever wonder what gourmet looks like on a plate?

This is the second transfer , original transfer from a LC syringe to a Petri dish

In the second pic, you see the number 1 plate….growth from LC syringe (approximately 4-6 drops)

Then the number 2 plate is the first transfer from the number 1 plate.

And the number 3 plate is the growth from the transfer from the number 2 plate.

Today, Katherine will be doing her first transfer!!!! That’s my wife 🥰 so she’s going to transfer from plate number 3 to new plates of different recipes and we will see what those look like in a couple weeks.

We’ll see if the Lion throws some ropes in this next round of experimenting.
