Looking back to 2018, when Mayor Janice Kovach performed our wedding ceremony. When Harvey first purchased the book shop in 2003, the climate of Clinton was not the most welcoming for Gay couples. Many didn't know we were a couple. When we did make it known about 4 years later, or, stopped hiding it, we even lost customers. By the time we had to let our little book shop go, Clinton had changed. Clinton was more welcoming, more open, and saying goodbye was hard. Thank you Janice for being such a big part of that change. Oh yes, we would have a huge Re-elect Kovach sign on our shop today.
We want to thank everyone who made our day so amazing. We did it and we did it in Clinton. There are no words to express our gratitude except Thank You. Pina Giuliana, our friend and partner in crime in this town, owner of Paper Grace on Main, LLC. and her cohort, Diana Senkevitch went above and beyond to see that everything was just right. We love you ladies without end. Mayor Janice Kovach who has, from day one, been a rock for us, you are loved. The Clinton House, as always, made it perfect. Back to work today with the most heartfelt gratitude and love for all of you.
