Buy your books from independent booksellers! We hear something is happening the next couple of days out there in cyberspace but remember…Bezos doesn’t give a s**t about you, but we do! The collective “we” meaning indie booksellers and small businesses.

Support your local indie bookstore this week (and always!) instead of some billionaire by purchasing your books in-person from their shop, through their page, and their page for audiobooks.

Today is Juneteenth and if you don’t know why today is a holiday then we encourage you to order one of these titles (or others on anti-racism, Black history, Black experiences) especially by Black authors, to learn why June 19 is an important day. Even if you do know why today is an important day, there is always so much more to learn.

While these titles can be found on our shelves, we encourage you to support a Black-owned bookstore and purchase through their Bookshop.org page:

➡️ Go to www.bookshop.org/pages/bookstores
⬇️Select the filters drop down
✅Select Black-owned Bookstores
📚Hit Appy
‼️You can search within 1000 miles of your zip code!

Sarah is currently reading Communion—a book about the struggles that women face in the search for authentic love. A book that challenges patriarchal ideas about female roles written by the influential Black feminist and activist bell hooks.

It is Sarah’s opinion that this is the only book of this title worth reading! A book that “challenges every woman to courageously claim the search for love as the heroic journey we must all choose to be truly free.” A read for pride month (or any month!) from one of the great authors and thinkers exploring the intersectionality of race, class, gender, and sexuality.

We have copies of Communion by bell hooks available in-store or you can order a copy through Bookshop at https://bookshop.org/a/465/9780060938291
