Introducing the Stichill Sweater

This kit was created in collaboration with the Ross Farm to feature a beautiful, unique base yarn - Cheviot Limited. 100% made in the USA, this Cheviot Wool is grown, sheared, processed, milled, and dyed by small, Midwest businesses!
To celebrate this wonderful wool Shannon Okey designed this amazing sweater inspired by the small Scottish village where several of her more.. interesting ancestors lived. Including Agnes Lamb who beat up a sheriff with the help of her girl gang!
Kit includes enough skeins of this wonderful, Cheviot wool to make this sweater and download code for the matching pattern. Available dyed to order for a limited time!

New for Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival this weekend, it's a collaboration between Destination Yarn, Ross Farm Fibers and Knitgrrl Studio/Cooperative Press! Meet Stichill.

https://cooperativepress.com/collections/latest-releases/products/stichill-sweater

Jeanne from Destination designed sweater kit colorways for Ross Farm Cheviot yarn and Shannon's team (including tech editor Andi Smith and sample knitter Candace Musmeci) worked out a castle-inspired yoke sweater design.

In keeping with the Scottish theme for this Destination Yarn collection I’ve named this sweater after a small Scottish village where several of my more... interesting ancestors lived. My 10x great grandmother Agnes Lamb—yes, that was really her name—beat up the local sheriff when he came to collect a debt, and her girl gang helped. This is all documented in the records of the local baron’s court! Perhaps she should have stuck to knitting instead.

You can get the yarn Friday in Destination's booth at Yarncentrick, in the Ross booth all weekend at MDSW, and online shortly after. Pattern is available now on the CP site and Ravelry in case you want to check out sizing / make yarn purchase plans.

This may be the only thing that gets me to watch Hallmark Christmas movies.

It may be billed as a romantic comedy but knitwear designer Di Gilpin made sure A Castle For Christmas took one thing seriously: knitting.

So I’m learning Hungarian, and fortunately thanks to decades of heavy Hungarian immigration our library system has a lot of language resources. Here’s Let’s Learn To Knit (1986), starring the most *irritated* male model I have ever seen. I love it.

I miss dyeing. It’s been a while.

Shiso Socks by Shannon Okey (aka Knitgrrl)

Using a k2tog rather than the more conventional ssk in the lace pattern adds texture to this lovely sock. I like how the patterning breaks up the highly variegated yarn but we've added a swatch in plain yellow so you can better see how it looks (see A Tale of Two Colorways at the end). I named this pattern Shiso because the colors in the yarn reminded me of the plant!

Mokosh Shawl by Shannon Okey (aka Knitgrrl)

Mokosh is a Slavic goddess, protector of women's work (including spinning, weaving and shearing sheep), as well as women's destiny. The colors of this shawl evoke the damp new beginnings of springtime. Mokosh's name is derived from words that mean "moisture," which seemed apropos for a shawl knit from colorways named Pond Scum and Scumbubbles. I actually like BOTH sides of this shawl, so have photographed it both ways.

Knitgrrl Hats by Shannon Okey (aka Knitgrrl)

Why not release a pattern a week for a year, and run a Patreon to help fund it? This was the original concept behind designer Shannon Okey’s knit publishing project.

Knitgrrl Hats is the first book release from the project, published with considerable help from her right hand woman and technical editor Andi Smith, as well as a large cast of sample knitters, models, photographers and more.
