You need this sewing pattern if you like a quick make! 🧵 This is the Merchant & Mills Cirrus: a lightweight and airy batwing top. Mine is made from our 100% cotton batiste in black with organic cotton ribknit cuffs in nutmeg. I added a simple running stitch with DMC floss for a little something extra; and hand sewed the neck binding for a softer finish. Easy peasy beginner. Literally make this top from anything in our store. I’m thinking a Liberty silk next time? Enjoy your Friday!

This reel captures such a tiny bit of SEWING CAMP at a Medomak Retreat Center in Washington, Maine. I should have taken more pictures of the amazing PEOPLE I was so fortunate to share the week with. “Camp” has been hosted by A Gathering Of Stitches, Maine (Samantha Hoyt) for 10 years with several folks returning year after year. And it’s no surprise why. This was my second time and it was somehow even better than my first: a holistic bath of camaraderie, inspiration, shared-passion, learning, nature, and food! This Slow Fashion retreat focused around natural dying techniques with Kristin Arzt , how to HAND sew a wardrobe from Louisa Owen Sonstroem , and garment pattern fitting by Grace Jones Grace . I can’t tell you enough about the ease by which we all came together as strangers and bonded in six short days over a passion for sewing garments and an openness to learn from our incredible instructors AND each other. I seriously felt like we were all speaking a secret language. I am forever grateful for the experience.

Having a jet-lag day! Returned from Portland Oregon at 2:30am! If you’re ever in Portland and need fabric or just a fun outing, go be inspired by Sewlarium in a northwest Portland neighborhood, Modern Domestic and Bolt Fabric Boutique near and in the uber quaint Alberta Arts District respectively, and lastly Josephine’s Dry Goods in the Hosford-Abernethy neighborhood. I can home with a lovely little stash bundle!
