Planting Season has been the runaway hit for this show. I can totally see why! The layers of dye create such a pretty, watercolored effect! It feels like an impressionist painting.

I paired it here with Kale and Roadside Wildflowers for a Cottage Garden inspired project. Such a fun combination!

A new colorway for the Great Lakes Fiber Show!

Before I realized it was our 10th anniversary at this show and we needed to celebrate I had this idea noodling around in my head.

See I had just dyed about a million (literally thousands) of skeins of the Artemis II collection. The colorway TOOK OFF and we had more orders than we’ve had since the viral Cowboy situation. It was INTENSE. So while pouring yet more blue dye I fantasized about pinks, greens, and purples. A garden inspired story with not a trace of orange or blue or gray. Something watercolored and impressionistic.

I absolutely love how it pulls together Woolapalooza and Ten Summers and creates the perfect in-between color!

Our Show Exclusive colorway for the

I knew for the 2026 colorway I wanted to use this same color story as our original 2016 color (scroll back to see) and move it forward. Make it richer, deeper, and more sophisticated. I used a kettle dye technique instead of speckles and layered the dyes to get all of those magical in-between hues.

It is both summery and sophisticated. Bright and rich. The depth of the teal against the bleeds into rose make the skeins seem to glow from within. Plus it looks amazing with our original 2016 colorway.

Fun fact: This is our Tenth Anniversary at the Great Lakes Fiber Show!

Crazy how time flies! To celebrate we had to bring back our very first show colorway for this event:

🎉Woolapalooza.🎉

Woolapalooza is the nickname that my knitting group lovingly gave the Great Lakes Fiber Show. I wanted a colorway that felt like the magic of visiting a fiber show with friends on that perfect, early summer day. Also back in 2016 speckles were just becoming a thing and I was having SO much fun playing with them! Honestly they are just as much fun 10 years later.

It reminds me of funfetti cake!

Summer on the Great Lakes.

This was our show colorway for the Great Lakes Fiber Show last year!

I wanted to capture the way the light reflects through the water - all of those different tones and hues mixing. Blue but also gray with hints of pinks and yellows and oranges peeking out.

The key to getting this to work was in lots of layers of color. First the skeins are dyed a mix of sunset colors. Summery peaches and blush. From there I build up layers of blues capturing the reflecting light over the water.

This and the entire Great Lakes collection will be at the Destination Yarn booth this weekend. Find us in our usual spot under the Grandstand - a little away from the other vendor buildings.
