Bea Mountain FC starlet Ralph Weah isn’t just fighting for a spot in Coach Mohammed A. Erradi’s Lone Star squad, he’s also battling the WASSCE.

The teenage forward, named in Liberia’s squad for the Sierra Leone double-header, is pulling double duty. Mornings are for exam papers, evenings are for national team training at the SKD Sports Complex, and nights are for the books back home.

Sources at camp say Weah has even been spotted with study notes between sessions, refusing to let his academic journey take a back seat to football.

From classroom to camp, the young prospect is showing the same work rate off the pitch that earned him his first senior call-up.

The presser comes ahead of Liberia’s back-to-back tests against the Sierra Lone, scheduled for June 6 and 9. Both fixtures are expected to serve as key tune-up matches for Erradi’s side as the technical staff assess form, fitness, and tactical options before the next competitive window.

Liberia may have fallen 8-0 on aggregate to Ghana in the FIFA U-17 World Cup qualifiers, but young goalkeeper Patience Taye emerged as a bright spot in defeat.

The 15-year-old delivered standout performances across both legs, producing a string of crucial saves to keep Ghana at bay, especially during the 2-0 home loss at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex. Without her heroics, the scoreline could have been much heavier.

Her display has not gone unnoticed. Newly elected Executive Committee member Evis Sirleaf was full of praise for the teenager. According to Sirleaf, Taye has the potential to make history if she gets the right attention and support to develop her goalkeeping career.

“She has a great future for Liberia women’s football,” Sirleaf said. “We must invest in talents like her.”

While Liberia’s World Cup dream ends here, Patience Taye’s journey looks to be just beginning.
