For Those About to Rock It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock n' roll

For Those About to Rock... a lesson in the art of jammin'

For Those About to Rock... is a program designed to teach students how to interact musically with one another in a classroom environment. The program enables students to play together in a "band-type" situation while teachers moderate, instruct, and produce. Students will learn songs of popular rock artists', from the Beatles to Metallica,

and perform them together as a band. For Those About to Rock... was a concept put together by Fairmount School of Music instructors Thomas Haywood (drums), Don Bosley (guitar), and Mike McNamara (guitar) in early 2010, and with the help of the school, made it a reality in Spring '10.

Hi Everyone,

I am excited to announce my return to Fairmount Music School after a long hiatus. I will begin by launching a Hip Hop Workshop class that will run from Monday June 11th through July 16th. The class will meet every Monday for 6 weeks for approx one hour at 5:30pm. . I am very excited about this class - it's going to be very different, laid back, and most importantly, FUN! Daniel Lee (bass player extraordinaire) will be assisting in instruction as well as other guest musicians and emcees! Please feel free to forward this email to any other friends or family that might be interested. Students from 11 years old to adults are welcome to join. Hope to see you all next Monday :)

Hip Hop Workshop - This class will focus on groove and it's relationship within the group. It will help students understand how to play with feel whether playing guitar, bass, or drums. Students will play with teachers, with each other, and possibly even to loops/samples. Guest MC's will visit to participate with the class, let the students know what they expect out of a band, and all play together to give the students the experience of rocking as a group.
