Congratulations to recipients of the NC Pork Council's annual awards. It's always an honor to provide beautiful custom awards to recognize outstanding leaders throughout our state.
We hosted our annual Awards Luncheon last Thursday in conjunction with our Annual Conference and Bacon Bash.
We honored six exceptional people in the industry.
Ben Davis (far left) received the Emerging Leaders Award. The Emerging Leaders Award recognizes pork producers aged 40 or younger who have contributed to the NC pork industry and exhibits leadership potential.
Tammy Peterson (second from left) received the Award for Excellence in Innovation. This award recognizes progress in the pork industry through innovative techniques, applications and/or actions that include environmental stewardship, research, science and/or other advancements.
Jan Archer (third from left) received the Lois Britt Award. Lois Britt devoted her life to agriculture, education, and service of those people, organizations and institution in which she believed in and there were many. After Loisโs untimely death in 2005, the NC Pork Council executive committee established this award in Loisโs memory to recognize individuals like Lois for whom service to the pork industry and NC agriculture is a passion.
Everett Johnson (middle) received the Outstanding Pork Producer of the Year Award. The Outstanding Pork Producer of the Year honors a pork producer or family who has made significant contributions to the pork industry in NC.
Dexter Edwards (second from right) received the NC Pork Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame recognizes persons with long and outstanding service to North Carolinaโs pork industry and the North Carolina Pork Council.
Dr. Randy Jones (right) received the W.W. Shay Award for Industry Distinction. This award honors an individual who has exhibited outstanding service to the pork industry as an employee of a pork industry company or who has demonstrated significant support for the industry in a distinctive way. It is named for William Warden Shay, the stateโs first swine extension officer.
We are so incredibly proud of all of our award recipients. They are stewards of the industry and what make NC Pork so great!
We will be sharing their award videos throughout the month so keep watching to learn more.
