In 1998, Bandai released one of the strangest Game Boy accessories ever made: the Pocket Sonar. It plugged into your Game Boy and used a real sonar transducer you’d drop into the water, letting you track fish and map the bottom on that tiny green screen.

It wasn’t a gimmick either. It could detect depth, underwater structure, and even show fish movement in real time. The idea was simple: bring portable tech to fishing, years before smartphones or modern fish finders were common.
