CITRUS HEIGHTS: THE SACRAMENTO REGION’S THRIFT HUB
10 thrift stores now occupy our city. Here is what you should know.
As new, corporate "Big Box" thrift warehouses move into Citrus Heights, many are trying to "curate" their massive spaces to mimic the boutique shops we’ve spent years building. But as any treasure hunter knows, a 25,000-square-foot warehouse can’t be a boutique, no matter how many glass cases they add.
At Greenback Treasures LLC, we’ve seen the shift. While the big-box giants use your donations and revenue to cover massive $25,000 to $40,000 monthly rents and overhead, we’ve kept our focus where it belongs: on the items and the people.
We believe donated items should not be used primarily to feed a giant building. Our study shows a large warehouse thrift store needs to sell roughly 4,500 donated items every week for three weeks just to cover their building lease.
When a store is forced to process thousands of items a day just to pay a corporate landlord or building owners the "curation" and personal touch disappear. You’re left with self-checkouts, locked dressing rooms, and "thrift" prices that look like high-end retail.
At our 4,500-square-foot shop, we don’t have a giant warehouse to "feed." We have themed rooms, unique hand-picked estate finds, a team that knows your name, and a lean overhead that keeps prices fair. Your donations and hard-earned money should stay in the community, not go toward a massive utility bill for a corporate landlord.
We aren't trying to be a warehouse. GREENBACK TREASURES are proud of our Google ratings and our status as the authentic, #1 rated boutique thrift shop that Citrus Heights helped us build.
Thank you for choosing quality over quantity. Let’s keep thrifting local, personal, and fair and please keep in mind when purchasing high priced donated items just to cover large building lease doesn’t make sense
