Today’s Forest River 25ICE mods part 2: I posted a couple days ago about adding towel bars to hang dish towels in front of micro and a matching shower curtain to hide control panels. Yesterday we added an extra tension shower curtain rod over the tub to drip dry items. Today our 3 types of hooks came in. The 3rd type is designed for pipe and has set screw. We will use these as coat hooks behind our entry curtain. For now, we just have it hanging upside down from shelf over the kitchen counter. FYI, if you want to mount the tension rod above the shower wall, the clearance between rod and ceiling are is tight. Only wire hooks will clear. The flat plastic hooks won’t work except under the skylight.

What do you think. Second mod of the day: our previous rig had a 3 inch deep closet for the command center and to hang a few jackets. We always order extra fabric when we order a new rv. In this case we ordered 2 extra matching shower curtains. Lots of wires in this wall and the converter needs air circulation so this is just a temporary test. No holes drilled yet, we just have a couple hooks stuffed behind the trim for now. We bought the same towel bar we used for over the microwave and will need to shorten the curtain above the converter. Over all, I like pulling the MCM wall pattern into the entry. Probably mount top rod higher and add a rod pocket in the curtain and mount rod at bottom with a rod pocket too so curtain doesn’t blow around. Also will make sure there are no screw penetrations inside the wall.

Today’s mod/hack on my 25ICE.
Mod: We don’t intend to block the microwave vent while in use. However after meal cleanup we need a place to hang our dish towels. We found there is enough residual heat in the convection micro fan stops to dry our towels if we crack the door. So we purchased a 24 inch $11+ bathroom towel bar to replace the gas oven handle we are used to using. For safety, we used much shorter screws to make sure we didn’t pe*****te where components might be hiding.
Hack: we love the little name tag clips for camping. They are perfect to hang strings of outdoor lights etc… Today they worked great to hang our oven mitts. Attached with a zip-tie.
PS don’t judge the towels, that’s just some old ones until I can shop for something that looks better with the decor ☺️

Another easy camping “Mandy Dump Meal” in my HotLogic. I used Hereford brand package of roast beef with gravy, frozen veggies and onion, and black pepper. I just dump everything in a 6x8 glass dish with plastic snap lid and into my HL Mini and plug it in. No dials or settings. It’s ready when we are and never burns even 12 hours later.

Tonight’s hot meal was ready when we were finished with a long day of camping. I used my 45 watt HoltLogic mini. I used all shelf stable ingredients thanks to our huge 25ICE pantry. I used Hereford meatballs, 2 small dipping cups of marinara sauce, precooked Ready Pasta and mozzarella cheese sticks. I then made buttered garlic toast in my convection microwave. Way better than a frozen meal. With the HotLogic I just plug it in and forget it. No dials or settings. It doesn’t over cook even 12 hours later.

HotLogic: Using 400 appliances in RVs:

I’ve heard back from HL and this is what they said about the 400 units in mobile vehicles. The unit has 4 cooking shelves and like the mini you just put any flat bottomed container on the shelf (even a frozen meal in a paper box) and it will cook it and hold the temp at 165 degrees F for up to 12 hours without overcooking.

“Maximum power consumption is 5 amps at 120 vac. Each tray is a 70 watt heater. So if one tray is heating, and the others are in stand by, the unit will draw approx 80 to 90 watts. The trays not heating will use just a small amount of power in standby mode.

And yes, it should work fine in a mobile unit. As long as the power supply is free of significant power fluctuations.”

We already use a portable mini version that only draws 45 watts.

Last night we had pot roast with carrots and potatoes with actor Patrick Duffy’s recently launched rolls.

Imagine installing one of these in an RV and coming home to a hot meal like this after going out fishing or hiking for the day. No matter how long you stay out, your food will be great up to the time limit the manufacture lists.
