Zinnia flats are now $14/flat mix and match!!!! Our favorite flower here at Wildwood Flora and we want to share them with you! Zinnias are one of the most reliable and beloved heirlooms you can grow. Your grandparents and great-grandparents likely grew these flowers as a timeless garden standout with profuse blooms and unmatched color.

Zinnias are considered the gold standard for home gardeners. They are a classic because they are easy to grow, survive extreme summer heat, and produce giant, colorful blooms all season. Also a pollinator favorite. 🦋

We have many types and colors to choose from including:

Zinnia Benary Giants: (Zinnia elegans) is a premier, dahlia-flowered strain of annuals. Known for enormous 4–6 inch fully double blossoms and extra-long, sturdy stems, these disease-tolerant plants reach 3–4 feet tall and deer resistant.

Zinnia Queen: vintage, pastel color palettes and stunning, double or semi-double blooms. 2 to 3.5-inch flowers that feature layered, dahlia-like forms.

Zinnia Zinderella: famous for their frilly, pincushion-like blooms. They feature a dense dome of central petals surrounded by a “skirt” of flat, daisy-like petals. 30-36 inches tall.

Zinnia Cactus Mix: 4- to 6-inch ruffled blooms and unique, spiky, quilled petals. Reaching 30 to 36 inches tall.

Zinnia Oklahoma: petite (1.5 to 2.5 inch), fully double blooms. 36-48” tall.

Zinnia Aztec: also known as Mexican Zinnia celebrated for their ornate, miniature bicolor blooms.

Zinnia Magellan: dwarf zinnias prized for producing massive, fully-double 4 to 5-inch blooms on remarkably compact 12 to 14-inch plants

Three Sister’s Garden Kits are ready! The Three Sisters garden is a traditional indigenous companion planting method where corn, pole beans, and squash are grown close together. This ingenious system creates a self-sustaining ecosystem. The corn provides a sturdy trellis for the beans, the beans add nitrogen to the soil, and the squash leaves shade out weeds and help to retain moisture in the soil.

These three plants work better together than when grown alone, creating a self-sustaining ecosystem that nourishes the soil and produces abundant yields. Ancient civilizations discovered that these crops flourished when planted in close proximity and in a mound (circle) rather than a traditional row.

How to arrange your Three Sisters Garden:
-Space the corn 12 inches apart in the center of the mound, Plant pole beans 3 to 4 inches away from the corn stalks, plant squash along the outer perimeter or edges of the mound, 1 to 2 feet away from the beans and corn.

Many other plants can be grown together in your own garden. For example, dill and basil would protect tomatoes from being invaded by hornworms without competing for nutrients in the soil.

Black Hollyhock: striking, deep maroon-to-purple, near-black, single-flowered biennials. Towering up to 6–8 feet, these sun-loving plants are ideal for back-of-border, cottage-core aesthetics, attracting hummingbirds and bees while blooming in summer.

Ohio Spiderwort: (Tradescantia ohiensis) is a hardy, native perennial forming 2–3 foot clumps of blue-green, grass-like foliage and 3-petaled blue-to-rose flowers. Ideal for pollinator gardens in sun to part shade.

Vietnamese coriander: commonly known as Rau Ram, is a tropical herb with a pungent, spicy, and slightly lemon flavor, featuring notes of cilantro and mint. Often considered less “soapy” than regular coriander by those who dislike it.

Epazote: herb from Mexico and Central/South America, known for its strong flavor, often compared to oregano, anise, and mint, with hints of lemon. Traditionally used in beans (frijoles de la olla) to add flavor and reduce gas, as well as in soups, stews, and quesadillas. It also has medicinal uses, particularly for digestion.

We are harvesting fresh spring greens daily, all grown and produced here on site and available free with any purchase. We look forward to sharing the abundance and special seasonal offering as the season heats up and we look to get our heat loving tomatoes and summers annuals planted in the next crop rotation.

We planted our veggie patch in late March to demonstrate food production can be done long before the last frost. These early season crops are all in the brassica family that can be planted early spring and in the fall. With each freeze the plants convert starches into sugars, making for sweet tender greens. Looking forward to sharing!
