I’ve been tinkering with the idea of making better aluminum quench plates for heat treating stainless steel. In the past I would dunk the plates in water to cool them down between knives and, not only was that time consuming while my blades were in the oven, but I then got water all over my work bench. I now have made water cooled aluminum plates. There’s water flowing through the plates which allows them to stay cool regardless of how many knives I want to heat treat. This is my first batch working with these new plates but they work great and plan on changing going a couple things and possibly selling the plates to other makers. Please let me know what you think!
