Some thoughts… we were doing quite well last year, and the end of the year before, but that was during our online push. It wasn’t done perfectly, but we made tremendous progress. Still each week we have national orders that go out. We opened the in person shop in October, just in time for the holiday shopping, but after mid December we had almost no customers until about February. We had a few of our beautiful customers come in that have been buying from us for years, but zero new traffic, no new customers. Other shops have opened and sell similar items to our mini shop. Rumor has it another one will be opening as well. Just with the newest shop that opened our traffic is basically zero. No hate, just reality. So we have this overhead, for a space that doesn’t serve. I think perhaps there is not enough buyers for how many sellers, or perhaps the local people are having similar hardships as we are financially. Im just thinking things out, but I’m leaning towards shutting the inperson shop down and going back and expanding the online. If it don’t make dollars it don’t make sense. We have been in the red since December, the online shop has had to pay the overhead for the in person. As a super small business, I just can’t sit with the bills accumulating like this. I was hoping to see the opening of farmers market make a difference, but that was very lean. 3 tents up and not much for foot traffic. I’ll think on this some more. But figure I would give all the followers of this page a perspective of the current state of affairs. I really do appreciate all of you that support Chiloquin unique. Near and far! Our business continues, but we may have to pivot away from an in person shop, at least here in Chiloquin. Wishing you all many blessings. Creation continues. Shipping is always available. Have a beautiful weekend. I’ll do some more updates as we decide what we are going to do.
