Southern Shadows, Railhead Station, and the Green Eyes Festival are excited to announce that our Open Mic Ghost Stories of Chickamauga event will now take place on:

We're using the extra time to gather even more local legends, Green Eyes encounters, battlefield hauntings, railroad ghost tales, family folklore, and paranormal experiences from across Northwest Georgia and beyond.

👻 DOES CHICKAMAUGA STILL HAVE GHOST STORIES? 👻

We think so.

Long before podcasts, social media, and paranormal television, people in Chickamauga gathered on porches, around campfires, in restaurants, and at family reunions to tell stories.

Stories about Green Eyes.

Stories about strange lights in the woods.

Stories about battlefield apparitions.

Stories about railroad ghosts.

Stories about something that happened to a friend, a grandparent, or maybe even themselves.

👻 SUMMER BEGINS THIS WEEKEND IN CHICKAMAUGA 👻🇺🇸

Join Southern Shadows for the official kickoff to Memorial Day Weekend and the start of summer in the haunted heart of North Georgia.

This is your LAST WEEK to experience our evening tours at 7 PM before summer hours begin. Starting May 26, tours move to 8 PM for the season.

As Memorial Day approaches, we also remember that many of the traditions Americans know today began here in the South after the Civil War. Across Georgia and the former Confederacy, countless women were left to recover the dead after unimaginable devastation. They organized the burial of fallen soldiers, helped establish and maintain cemeteries for the Confederate dead, and gathered each spring for what became known as “Decoration Days” — honoring graves with flowers, prayers, and remembrance. Over time, these acts of mourning and memorialization helped inspire the Memorial Day traditions recognized across the United States today.

In Chickamauga, where the scars of war still linger across the landscape, those memories feel especially close.
