In 2018 we moved to our new h
ome at 4432 N. Kedzie in the Albany Park neighborhood. This allows us to offer community workshops, as well as have a retail area filled with our goods and other letterpress artist goods, vintage finds, and stationery type products. favorite goods are handmade with our small but caring staff & the occasional help (but constant support) from friends & family. Be it old or new, labelmaker, typewriter, computer or printing press, nothing makes Amber happier than creating. We hope to see you soon!

Hello stationery friends! I just got back from the Big Apple! I was there attending a couple tradeshows searching for new stationery to share with you all. While I was there I also got to attend .fest which was great. I loved seeing all the excitement & love for stationery. I feel like I’m still on a high from and combined with my NYC trip, I’m filled with ideas and excited to share all the paper love. I’ll be writing more about my NYC trip on the blog. It was a really great trip. Best of all, I got to share it all with my ride or die Jaime from Oh! And another highlight, I got to meet Kristina of & founder of Stationery Store Day. Very fun. If you see me in the shop today looking dazed, no worries, I’m just in a stationery daydream. 💖✨

Save the Date for this coming Saturday, August 3rd.
The Third Annual Stationery Store Day is happening from 10am-5pm, 4432 N. Kedzie.
Just like the previous two years, we’ll be spending the day celebrating all things stationery in our little shop. If you don't know, let me tell you, Stationery Store Day is magical. Seriously. Worldwide Stationery Shops host events, offer special merchandise, stock up on new amazing finds and create the most amazing experiences just for the day. Plus, some stores in the same city or area often collaborate with one another. It's a paper lover's dream.
This year we'll be offering letterpress demos with a press set up for you to print. That's right! Pull a print on our antique press. Plus, a free gift with every purchase, free tote with $100 purchase (while supplies last), free tote filled with stickers and a roll of SSD washi tape with $150+ purchase (while supplies last). We'll also have raffles throughout the day. Like last year, we'll have official Stationery Store Day merchandise for sale, including die cut stickers of the above postage snail (so cute!), two other cute stickers, sticker sheets, sticker books, three different washi tape designs, postcards and totes, all available while supplies last.
We're also working with other amazing shops to create a Chicago Stationery Passport for the day. The more shops you visit, the more chances you get to score cute merch. Here's a list of all the Chicagoland shops participating.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mom figures out there! 💕I’m very fortunate to spend three days a week working alongside my ma & being less than a mile away. If you’ve been in our shop you’ve probably seen her helping out. When she’s not working, she’s volunteering at church, reading, cheering on the cubs, baking, planting flowers or watching Hallmark channel. You know, mom things. She’s one of this moms that anticipates what everyone needs and shows up, again & again. We are so lucky to have her. She makes us better. We’re BIG believers in what you give, you get. Wouldn’t it be nice to spread some goodwill, gratitude or just a few warm fuzzies? One simple way to accomplish this is with a little snail mail. 💌 Let someone know you’re thinking of them or thank them for that little gesture that touched you, maybe write to a friend & share what you admire most about them. A simple hello can change someone’s day for the better. Purchase cards, stationery, postcards or bring your own. Stay for a minute or two hours, whatever works. We’ll have postage stamps, pens, washi tape and typewriters on hand for you to use. Sit with friends and neighbors, share warm fuzzies and maybe a drink (BYOB). Write a note, type a letter, send a postcard. We want to share our space & the magic of snail mail with YOU. See you soon.

Wow. April was a blur and I'm in a little denial tomorrow is May. But the good news is, that means we have a some spring events, happenings and goings on! This week is the first Thursday of the month. Do you know what that means? Our Letter Writing Meet Up is happening! Join us in sharing the magic....

Today (and everyday) we celebrate Earth Day! 🌎 I truly LOVE this planet. Seriously. It’s a magical place. In my business I take steps to make sure we’re a little more friendly to our planet. If you ask my employee and mom, she’d tell you I even guilt her into putting her end-of-day ice in all the plants around the shop (why waste the water?). Some may see me as a tree hugger (which I appreciate) but really it’s just common courtesy and respect for our planet. Here are a few ways we recycle, reuse and reduce for the greater good.
🌎 First, 98% of our paper comes from who is hydro powered, they’re located in MI so the carbon footprint of shipping to Chicago is smaller.
🌍 Second, we recycle our paper scraps. Turns out making greeting cards requires a lot of paper, as we cut prints down, we recycle all those trimmings.
🌏 Third, we reuse our make-ready sheets over and over. With any print job comes lots of fine tuning and fussing. This process creates waste, however we reuse these sheets until we can’t tell which crop mark belongs to which graphic.
🌎 We also reimagine our make-ready sheets. The above process creates some pretty amazing textures, patterns and imagery. We launched our Rescued Remnants line about a decade ago. We use make-ready sheets to make buttons, tags and occasionally notepads.
🌍 We ditched the plastic bubble wrap. It took us about a year to find the best alternative for us but we found it! We use paper bubble from it’s recyclable and earth friendly.
🌏 Lastly, we reuse many of our shipping boxes and packaging. While I know custom printed boxes and tape look real pretty and create brand awareness, those items create more waste, we stick to the reusing and reducing. We receive a lot of heavy duty boxes that can still be useful and occasionally we do need some extra cushion and bubble wrap, so we stockpile all the packaging others have sent us and are happy to reuse it.
♥️ These are little steps we do daily to honor our earth. Happy friends! I hope you can take a moment today to enjoy our amazing planet. And maybe consider putting those leftover ice cubes in your favorite houseplant.

Mother’s Day is May 12th! That’s only 29 days away. We’ve got lots of Mother’s Day cards. Perfect for mom, stepmom, grandma, aunt or mom figure. Let them know she makes life Butter or thank her for always being there in a Jiffy or remind her no one stacks up to her.

Welcome back, sunshine! It’s been mostly cold and cloudy here in Chicago. But today the sun is back and I’m starting to feel human again. Need an excuse to get out in the sun? Walk on over to the shop, get yourself a sunprint kit. We have mini size (pictured) and larger too. Either is a perfect excuse to play in sunshine today.

Happy Letter Writing Meet Up Day to all who celebrate! 📝 Tonight is the night & we’re so excited to share our space with you. Join us from 5-7pm. Our production tables will be cleared off and set up with pens, typewriters and washi tape for customers to write letters. It’s BYOB & pretty social. Most people buy cards and stationery, others bring their own to use. At the end of the night, we collect all the letters, stamp them for you and mail everything. We set up vintage typewriters, specialty pens & washi tape and invite guests to come in and write letters. Participants can shop for cards, postcards, letter sets or bring their own stationery. Everyone writes or types correspondence while being surrounded by like minded people. Plus, it’s BYOB and we cover postage! It’s casual, social & a great way to cultivate some warm fuzzies. This lil card has been in production since 2006. You all like anatomical hearts. Me too. It’s a versatile card. I’ve used it as a thank you note, sympathy, love note and even a little note of encouragement. We’ve had several doctors use these as their go to stationery. This lil card is pretty perfect. Although as I age, I maybe could’ve made that mouse type a little less tiny. 🤓 shop is open! Come see us.
