TOMORROW, Saturday, May 30th is the last day our cafe will be open! We’d love to see you if you have time to stop by in our last week of service ♥️

📣 ALSO! The General Store will be CLOSED for renovations June 1st-5th as we are making room to incorporate our most loved market products! If you need to restock on anything, please come by before the 1st!

CSA start in June and the first pickups will be on Wednesday, June 3rd as scheduled. Those will be available in the cafe space instead (just for that week) as we get our General Store ready.

Thank you all for your understanding and continued support! We look forward to seeing you June 6th in our updated space 🤩

Because most of what we sell is compostable, it can be hard for us to find colorful merchandise to put in the windows. We're asking our customers to make us upcycled flowers from hard-to-dispose-of items we have lying around, or you have lying around. There is a box of colorful plastic, broken lids, and miss-made bamboo lids at the front of the store that you're welcome to use in this endeavor. We'll be accepting upcycled flowers to display in our windows after we reopen on 6/5 or 6/6. Kids are encouraged to participate. Flowers can be returned to the makers after the display comes down, if desired. Just be sure to have your name on it and give us your contact info.

The Urban Canopy is pioneering the local food cycle to create a more sustainable and equitable food system in Chicago. They are growers, distributors, composters and community members who seek to positively impact our city’s environment, people’s health, and local economy.

This Friday The Eco Flamingo and the Market Cafe will be open for normal business hours.

As much as we would like to close for the general strike, and support and admire everyone who can, closing for the day would be very difficult for both our team and for us.

If you need to shop on Friday, we encourage you to only shop small, local, and use cash or Zelle. We will donate 10% of our Friday sales to the ICIRR and we encourage our shoppers to pay for purchases at any small business who accepts them with cash or Zelle. The money we save on transaction fees on Friday will also be donated to ICIRR. Eliminating transaction fees keeps money in our communities instead of big corporations.

Please show kindness to those who have to take action differently and thank you for understanding 💗

Taking into consideration the needs of our team’s livelihoods and the realities of running a small business, we’ve made the decision to remain open tomorrow. In solidarity with our immigrant and refugee communities, we will be donating 15% of tomorrow’s sales to the National Immigrant Justice Center.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who chooses to walk through our doors. Your support allows us to continue our mission and sustain the livelihoods of our team.
